I saw the banners on the A90 at Ellon and wondered what they were, and have just looked it up on the internet - it's a 6 mile (that's further than Race For Life's 5km!) hobble thru the streets of Fraserburgh at night in aid of the Breast Cancer Unit at Aberdeen.
Now I've been looking for an alternative to the Race For Life - I thought you might be a bit bored with that - and this seems particularly appropriate for me just now. Some of you may know - I was diagnosed with breast cancer on Wednesday so not only will be getting money for a charity I think we all feel strongly about, I'll get something back for my efforts too in the shape of improved facilities at ARI!!
Now I must caveat this - I've signed up and I'll do my damnedest to do it but if I physically can't due to radiotherapy, chemo - (I'm to 'enjoy' both) or such like I'll nominate a substitute. Now that substitute may be David in drag (ladies only event)!... but someone will do it for me if I can't!!
Unfortunately it's a low comparitively key event not geared up with just giving or such like so sponsorship may be a bit tricky. If you want to PM me or pledge on this thread I'll contact you and arrange payment either via PayPal (I'll pick up the fees) or by snail mail or such like.
As in previous years I should get matched giving from Scottish Widows up to £600 so make them pay please - give generously!!
