I'm having major issues dealing with my factors at the moment, very unproductive, not pro-active at all and communication is an absolute joke yet I pay 3 times what i pay in other properties and I currently manage about 15. I wont go into detail yet but would any of you like to share any good or bad experiences that you have had?

Thanks

Matthew

I'm having major issues with a large managing agent/factor, no naming and shaming due to PH rules however I believe they can be found in the St Enoch Square area of Glasgow.

Its a modest 1 bed tenement flat which I let out. I pay £90 per month factoring fees which is mainly made up of extortionate buildings insurance through their chosen provider, coupled with countless small bills over the year, all of which are conveniently just under the value where they'd need to consult owners prior to getting work done.

In addition every month or so they propose a new project, be it new gutters, new chimney pots, some pointing etc, all of which could probably do with a bit of attention but aren't urgent, and all of which are always quoted for through their limited panel of around 3 all trades companies who charge hefty rates in exchange for shoddy workmanship, no doubt in return for backhanded payments along the way.

I'm in the process of trying to get co-owners to evict them and tender the work to other factors, so stories of good companies would be welcome!

Unfortunately I lack the vocabulary to describe the ineptitude of and my anger towards Glasgow West Housing Association.

Charles White in Edinburgh aren't too bad - not great, a bit slow sometimes, but their rates are reasonable enough. Think good factoring agents are few and far between.

I wont ask but what exactly is GWHA? Do they 'oversee' the region and factors etc?
