Edinburgh Eating
Discussion
I'm coming up to get kitted (kilted) out for a summer wedding and making a night or two of it. Thanks for recommendations of kilt makers on another of my threads and I'm heading to Kinloch Anderson in Leith for that.
So I've tried a search on here - and the most recent thread is over a year old.
I'm after some recommendations of places for a stonkingly good evening meal, notwithstanding that I've left it late to book and I may have to take my chances.
Will happilly eat at just about any genre of restaurant apart from Curry/Thai. Don't want anywhere too pretentious as I want to be in jeans.
Thanks in advance and over to you helpful brethren of the Scotland forum...

Up to £50/head before booze. Don't mind if it's less: don't mind if it's (not too much) more. Staying in Queensferry so last train back there or a taxi.
Are you staying at the Dakota? If so they have a cracking menu sir. If you wanted to venture down into South Queensferry there are also a few nice places there, various budgets, great views.
Or there is Frankie & Bennies next to Dakota, or you could splash out and got for an all day breakfast at tescos!
Cheers anyway, hope you enjoy your stay

Can thoroughly recommend The Brasserie and the Scotsman Hotel, North Bridges - top of Princes Street @ Leith end. Was recommended on here a few months ago. 10 x better than many others including the much famed Oloroso. Quite informal, great atmosphere and service. Bar area has a real buzz too.

There's a Pizza Express just along Commercial St from the kilt place
Actually, The Shore pub has a bit of a good restaurant in it, again only 3-4 mins walk from there.
Depends if you want to get back to the area you're staying in before eating, I guess.
