Is this a good spectator venue? I've never been before so any info would be good. How much is it to get in as a spectator?

I stayed near Crail for a couple of months early last year and on a walk into the village at finishing time was disappointed to see that 99% of the cars were old shopping hatches with lowered suspension, a big exhaust and big wheels and all appeared to be driven by 17 year olds.

Out of a couple of hundred cars I saw 1 Elise and a couple of Evos.

Maybe I was just unlucky and missed all the good stuff?

My understanding is that this is the norm for Crail.

Whats the general opinion on this ? Worth the hour or so drive up from Edinburgh to spectate ? Does it attract a good entry ?

+1

I went there about 10 years ago and I'm sure I saw that yellow 6R4 then.

Last time i went up there was a great entry, well worth the hours drive. You can walk all over the airfield and can pretty much stand anwhere you like as long as your sensible. I think its was about a fiver to get in. I can call tomorrow and see when it starts, think about 8am.

Thanks HH. Found an e-mail address for Crail Racing and they got back to me. £5 a head and a 9am start. So long as the weather looks reasonable I think I'll head up.

A proper MSA licenced stage rally with logbooked rally cars, not one of those poxy thrash days where you can turn up with any old thing. ]

Would love to get involved in Marshaling but having my 4 1/2 year old petrolhead son with me kinda stops that ( I would have thought ).

The Crail rallies are definately worth attending, plenty to see although bring seriously warm clothes as its even colder then Knockhill in my experiance!

Apart from the fact trackscotland organise days at knockhill not crail? Must say, when i was at knockhill on saturday there were lots of old things there! GT2, GT3RS, Lotus 2-11 to name but a few. Sure the owners will be glad to know of their mis-purchase.
