Hi guys, wonder if anyone can help.

I will be in Edinburgh over the Easter weekend and want to drive north to the Inverness area and maybe beyond.

Looking for the best roads to use for driving experience and scenery. Will be mainly camping, weather permitting!

All roads / routes / towns to stay near ideas welcome

Cheers

West coast is probably better for roads, but heading up the A9 you can usually admire plenty scenery whilst stuck behind a caravan! biggrin

Nice round the cairngorms, and the offroading on the rothiemurchus estate is a laugh. Worth a stop off in Kingussie or somewhere like that.

You can avoid a lot of the A9 by heading off from Perth for Blairgowrie, Glenshee and Braemar from there you can head up to Inverness. From there I would suggest heading back south round the west side of Loch Ness all the way down to Loch Lomond. For a weekend that would be a good tour, enough driving, good scenery and plenty of time to relax.

Yup agree, great roads over Glenshee and Lecht. Avoid the A9...

Don't do the A9!

Either as said above, or head along the M9 towards Stirling then onto the A84 (I think) which joins onto the A82 and heads towards Glen Coe and Fort William. You can follow this all the way along Loch Ness to Inverness.

VetteG has it right. there. Cracking run that.

Between Braemar and Lecht the road is cracking too with some fantastic scenery.

I'm sure this was taken on that road.....

West Highlands is where you want to be. Try out Steve Carters (GetCarter) Loop if you have time.

Roads out Pitlochery way are always fun if you take country roads all the way there and the surrounding area. Head to Kinlock Rannoch , lovely place to stay.
