Pistonheads Poker Night
Discussion
As we all know, it's a scientific fact that fast cars, fast women, alcohol and gambling are all the modern man needs to be happy. With that in mind, who fancies a PH Scotland poker night?
We can thrash out the details once we have a few interested suckers.. sorry, players. Not high stakes or anything - just a friendly game and bit of banter. I was thinking a small winner-takes-all tournament (or top 3 split the prizepool.. whatever suits), with a mutually agreed buy-in. Can be as little as a tenner, and since it's a tournament, no-one will lose more than that - unless we agree on rebuys, etc, which is something we can discuss, depending on what we all fancy.
Location might be a problem, since we're spread far and wide, but as a starting point, there's a poker club in Glasgow that would be happy to accommodate us. That'd cost around a fiver each for the hire of the tables and a dealer for the evening - or even a sat/sun afternoon if that suits better.
Alternatively, if anyone can come up with a better location (quiet pub, hall, etc), I have a table, cards and chips, and wouldn't mind dealing/organising for the evening (used to be a dealer.. and no, not that kind - sorry! ).
Could be a fun evening, and up for grabs are PH Scotland bragging rights. Who's interested in theory, and anyone have any thoughts on it?

Good stuff guys!
Early evening seems like the most popular time to play, then. How does something like 7pm on a friday night sound?
Also, the format could be a £10 rebuy tournament or a £10 freeze out. Advantages of a rebuy format means that anyone who loses their chips early on can rebuy, and won't be sitting twiddling their thumbs all evening. Rebuys are usually allowed for the first hour or so, then it's last man standing wins. Advantages of a freeze-out (no rebuys) format means that no-one can lose more than a tenner.
I think it'd be best with a small buy-in and rebuys, as opposed to a larger buyin freeze-out. That way people can decide how much they want to spend/lose/invest. How is everyone with a £10 no-limit hold'em rebuy tourney? I'll not book anything until we've got more interested folk and everyone's happy with the details, but lets say provisionally, a friday evening game in Cincinnatis card club in Glasgow - perhaps in a few weeks, say, early April? Any dates people prefer or can't make?
Alternatively, if you fancy saving time, just put your buyins in an envelope marked "Erds Lambo fund", and post `em to me.. smack talking is encouraged, suckers

All sounds fine to me. I work shifts but I know when i'm working for months ahead. Give me a date and i'll see if I can make it.Early evening seems like the most popular time to play, then. How does something like 7pm on a friday night sound?

The rules mentioned above, does that mean you can buy in as many times as you wish?
With the rebuy format, it's usually described as something like "unlimited rebuys for the first hour", which means you can buy in as many times as you like within the rebuy period. Once the rebuys stop, then it's last man standing. I've made a few enquiries, and it appears the casino would be a better option for hosting it. They'll organise and host it for free, and possibly lay on a free buffet depending on numbers.
Just a matter of finding a mutually agreeable date, really.
Ok, we'll say early May as a ballpark date?
I'll phone around and see what casinos will host this for us. Should be free, and hopefully they'll put together a buffet for us too. A blast through the tunnel beforehand sounds fun, but I was assuming most people would want to leave their wheels at home, to be able to drink. We could always have an 8pm start for the game, with the tunnel runners meeting at 7pm or something.
It's a while away yet, so plenty of time to formulate a plan.

was your original post in english!! lol
I have no idea what your talking about, so I might come along and 'invest' my £10 and be last person standing, as people may be so exasperated in trying to explain these rules that they may go home and leave me with the cash?
Glad I don't do your job! Whilst driving old Italain cars is like burning £10 notes in a storm, am not sure i could gamble that much! lol
Sorry for the off topic reply!
See you on the 22nd

English translation of my first post is that with a £10 rebuy tournament structure, no-one will lose more than a tenner, unless they're knocked out the tournament and want to buy back in for another tenner. So no-one will be losing more than a tenner at a time, if that. As a rough guide, I'd be very surprised if even the wildest players spend more than £50 overall. No car-keys being thrown in the pot
It's the kind of thing that's a nightmare to explain, but 5 mins of playing will have sorted. I'd be happy to meet 30mins before the game starts to deal a dummy game for those unsure of the rules.
