oddly i thought of posting this earlier on, i figured you would be watching/offer some comment!
I was expecting it to be another patronising view of crofitng, but watched it all the way through and found it quite enjoyable. Some amusing parts but i think he stood up well, then again the wonders of TV. Was it accurate as such?

Must take the kids back over to the inn. Looked very welcoming, just forget how devastatingly pretty it is.

Yes, I thought Ep 1 was pretty good.

Our dog and his dog got on really well, so I had high hopes!

Sure shows how stunning the area looks from the sky.

As for accurate... well he had the best May weather here for many years... but August was crap (as many who came to the Shieldaig fete from here will testify!) so we'll see if he does the midges/wet thing.

I am curious as all the livestock purchases, he talked about leaving in the Autumn? I wouldn't fancy living in that in the autumn let alone the winter months... oh reminds me of growing up in a drafty black isle farm house and tending to farm. A worthy life experience imho.

Monty gained brownie points for me as his introduction to it all was good. And best of all he really seems to get it, its a hard way of life my auntie still runs a croft. It was touched on there but its very difficult to make it a single source of income, as the land is usually bloody awful and not quite big enough to make profit, but it depicted a reasonable balance, however it did seem appealing if a little sunny!!!! Looks like Applecross will be busy this summer then!

Was the cottage/barn at Sand near the MOD buildings?
It looked familiar anyway.

I saw the prog & thought it was great! Bunch of cynics in the other thread I reckon. It brought back happy memories of our trip a couple of years back - are you (or your dog) gonna be in the next programme Steve?

Just watched it and really enjoyed it.

Such a beautiful place, can't wait to go back. Maybe have a weekend away sometime in May/June.

i like this chap... I know its TV edited but its he really that constantly cheery!

Its really showing off the west coast well, no idea if its got some tourism funding or one mans experiment but its certainly showing off Torridon in all its glory. Some devastatingly gorgeous sunsets... I just cant get tired looking at that. Scotland when its like that is as good as it gets imho. Like this guy more and more.

I reckon your wee fete thing will be heaving this year GetCarter!

some nice shots down at Strome Ferry (nae Ferry!) last night with the dolphins but my missus objected to his claim that the sand dune he was running up and doon was a recent thing and he "wasn't doing anything environmentally unsound, honest guv!" as she reckons its been like that for many many years...! great series though.

I said that too! I remember running up that hill 30+ years ago as a youngster and I'm sure it had been there for ever! It has spread over the past few years though. Enjoying the series but the whole idea of him being a crofter is laughable.

It's been here since we have (11 years). He does talk a lot of hogwash acually - we know how much time he spent with the film crew in Applecross!

I'm still quite enjoying it - though I wish he'd not done May - September, but October - April!

Was on the beach today walking dog

Had a nosey round his shack - they have left it open and there is a visitors book inside! (The bog is still there too).
