Been on the lookout for something for 'high days and holidays'; I still think the pickup is the ideal daily driver, and the tvrolet is a fine tool for scaring you silly once in a while. But the tvrolet was never going to cut it as transport out for a meal with the wife, and she was never too impressed turning up in a pickup...so action was required. I guess the fact my son had just skipped from oldest car in the household to 2nd newest was the tipping point
I wanted a sportyish 2+2. Really fancied another Cerbera, but not too many about in colours I'd buy...plus a bit of 'been there, seen it, done it, got the Tee shirt' [yes, I actually do have the Tee shirt!].
Looked at some DB7s, but [after the Cerbera] the interior is a real let down, especially the Ford switches; and zero rear space. Probably wrongly, I dismissed the straight 6s as being a but wussy, and decent Vantages were a bit more than I was prepared to spend on a car that'll spend most of its life garaged.
So...this seemed to tick all the boxes
I don't think it looks quite as cohesive as the Cerbera, but still nice enough...and I do like the back of it. Nice classy interior, and proper rear seats - it'll seat 4 adults, I've tried already .
I have to say, before driving it the 'Ferrari engine' was the thing I thought I'd find least attractive. To my ears at least, Chevy motors (as per the tvrolet) sound like V8s should, and the only time I've heard Ferraris giving it large is on track days, and I think they sound like a wasp in a bottle. I was perfectly prepared to live with with the unpleasant noise for the performance, interior etc., but lo and behold it actually sounds like a proper V8, although a quiet one. I'll have to check the motor out as is doesn't sound like a flat plane crank, and I was sure all Ferrari V8s were.
But all in all, mightily impressed. Cruises well, handles nicely, comfortable, and it DOES sound nice. It's also a bit nipper than I thought it would be (but still a slug compared to the tvrolet). All in all, I'm a happy bunny with the new arrival
