Taxi is certainly the fastest way, there are 2 types at the airport, black cabs which are beside the bus stopsn straight in front of you as you come out or if you turn to the left as you come out you will see a covered way to the airport cars, both charge about the same but you will have a better chance of negotiating a deal with the airport guys. Your other option is car or bus to Haymarket Station in Edinburgh, train to Glasgow Queen Street and taxi to your final destination.

Only way I can suggest is airport bus into centre of Edinburgh (45 mins I think) then train to Glasgow (1 hour) then mixture of tube/bus in Glasgow for probably another 45 minutes?

Do a one way car hire? Or find a volunteer PHer who wants to go for a drive!

Yep, I would investigate a taxi too or even a car hire airport to airport? Public transport - in to Haymarket, train to glas - train out to Paisley would be a nightmre.

Air. Years ago one of the evening Edinburgh-Bristol flights used to go via Glasgow to pick the weegies up as Edinburgh-Bristol and Glasgow-Bristol was the same plane. Took about 10 minutes or so; the cabin crew never got out of their seats. Certainly the fastest!

More seriously, I've had the opposite predicament of being deposited in Glasgow airport due to flight cancellations/diversions and had my car parked in Edinburgh airport. I have tried various routes/methods, but the only practical way is to a hire car. No doubt a taxi too, but they've never quoted as cheap as just hiring the smallest thing on wheels from National (who are usually cheapest).

By the way, many planes stop at Edinburgh to disembark some passengers before continuing on to glasgow. Check with the airport if any still offer seats.
As far as I'm aware this hasn't happened [intentionally] on a scheduled airline for years, unless you can think of one... The only one I can remember was British European - years ago before they changed the name to FlyBe.

Shame it would take him about 2 hrs to get to leith!

Car hire is cheapest/quickest option, should be about 40-50 notes for a wee scumbucket.
Public transport you're looking at about 3hrs versus just over an hour in the motor.

Thinking about it why not train downm to Glasgow forget plane?

By the time you factor in waiting time tranfers etc train is direct and probably as quick to Glasgow

Bus every 15 min to airport from centre of Glasgow

Cancel above just realised where you may be coming from......

I'm sure there is a no-stops bus from the centre of Edinburgh to Glasgow airport.
Just got confirmation the direct bus does leave from the city centre bus station, off St. Andrew's Square, and fast tracks to Glasgow airport. Duration: One hour, thirty, tops. smile
Plus half an hour getting into the city centre, plus getting from the airport to Linwood.
Unless money is reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally an issue I'd avoid the buses, particularly given the current skanky weather.

75 notes for a taxi isn't too bad when you factor in the extra hassle of picking up and dropping off a hire car.

+1. if time is a concern and you dont want much hassle just fork out 75 smackeroonies. punlic transport slow method would still be atleast 35squid. so double for the comfort and lack of hassle is a no brainer imo

Jeez. You can even pass a straight forward bit of information on PH without somebody posting a contrary view. biggrin
My apologies, I thought the thread title being "quickest way from edinburgh airport to glasgow airport?" might have meant the OP wanted a quick way to get there? biggrin

Maybe he should fly out to LA, have a quick chat with the sage then fly back into Glasgow. That should do the job. wink

LA, Big Alin is correct, I live 10 mins drive from Edinburgh Airport and if you look at the OP's request, he is asking locals for the best way of getting between the 2 airports. Whilst your comments are always welcome here, you are not necessarily in a position to give the OP the advice he requested.
BTW If you took a bus to the centre and then the Glasgow bus you would repeat most of the journey into Edinburgh since the Airport bus and Glasgow bus travel the same road in Edinburgh only splitting at the Maybury some 2 miles from the airport. You can wait up to 30mins for the airport bus to leave and another 30 mins for the Glasgow bus and may well have similar waiting time at the other end. Driving time between Edinburgh & Glasgow airport is about 1hr 15-30mins so for quickest the bus is a no no.
