Anyone see or hear anything about this just before Old Craighall?

It was shut off from sheriff hall to old craighall. Looks like a tractor was involed? Must have been a death as it was all closed off. frown

Just from what I've read on the BBC site:

"A man has been killed and his female passenger seriously injured in an accident on the M8 on Wednesday night.

The accident happened at 2310 GMT when a luxury sports car came off the road at Whitburn and crashed into a tree.

The passenger was thrown clear, but the driver was trapped in the Lamborghini Gallardo, which caught fire and was extensively damaged in the blaze.

The 29-year-old passenger was taken to Wishaw General Hospital. She broke her collarbone and has abdominal injuries.

It is understood the driver was 26 years old.

The westbound carriageway was shut for over six hours and was reopened just before 0600 GMT on Thursday.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "Obviously this is a tragic incident, and we are extremely keen to speak to any witnesses who were on the motorway last night and saw what happened.

"Anyone who has any information that can help our enquiries should contact police as soon as possible."

Doesn't need to be fatal for the police to close the road, just for vehicles to be blocking the road and needing cleared.
They shut the road after I crashed my first car many moons ago and as you can see I'm still here.

(Or posting from the afterlife!)

I think there might be a bit of confusion between 2 different accidents. There was an accident on the M8 which closed the road as well.... I saw to the same report yesterday on the Scottish morning news bulletin read by that Cathrine Shearer or whatever her name is 3 TIMES and still couldn't make out the name of the sportscar from her pronounciation of it!

First time I though she said Lotus, then 2nd thought not...but still too short for Lambourghini, third time was even worse!

hehe She just said "luxury sports car", same as the BBC website did for a while.

Got caught in it about 08.10 yesterday - looks like a merc Sprinter rear ended a JCB - not recommended. front end was completely done in.

To compound it all, a few of the rubber neckers managed to tie them selves up going the opposite way - chaos!

Ok....admittedly it was in a departure lounge with a bit of background noise, and after a couple of shandies!
