Evening folks,

Had a bit of a problem with a car I had a few months back and bought what I thought would be a cheap run around, didn't work out that way and died. Albeit the car was only 300 quid.

Anyway, the car is fked. Jumpy idle, oil in the water, I've looked at it and a few mechanic friends and it really isn't worth the bother fixing. 99% certain it is HGF.

I am therefor left with a bit of a problem. I cannot tax the vehicle as the v5 has not came through (tax ends this month). And I don't know if I can scrap it without the document either?

Does anyone here want the car to break up or know of someone in Glasgow region that would gladly come and take it off my hands? Contact details appreciated.

Car is a citreon xsara sitting approx 2miles out of city centre.

Thanks in advance folks,

Stu

Haven't a clue, but according to Bill things are pretty dire in the scrap trade.

Well he will take it away for fook all. So I think thats my best bet. Good stuff.

How much do you reckon to fix HGF on a xsara on parts alone?

It makes a difference to see if its worth fixing.

The parts arent that expensive, its the work and wether the head is ok

I am guessing not. It would need to be skimmed and would cost minimum 500 quid I reckon. My old boy has a garage. But I am not sure if I should scrap it or get the AA to bring it 100 miles down the road.

The head is potentially goosed but theres no way of knowing without spending more time and or money on it.

If he has a garage and you have cover then you have nothing to lose

Yeah, it is limited space. He is semi retiring. All tools in van so he would have to be there... So scraping the car it is!
