We have recently moved to Aberdeen and have yet to get used to the biweekly rubbish collection. Our rubbish is building up very rapidly and as our next collection isn't until next week we wondered if anyone knew of a tip in Aberdeenshire we could use. I have looked on the council website and can't find anything.....your help would be much appreciated. By the way, can't ask the neighbours as we don't have any!

Look up Household Recycling Centres - it is a posh name for a dump! biggrin:

On the south side there is one at Stonehaven and another at Laurencekirk

Alternatively, you could just roll up into Northfield or any of the other slums and leave your refuse there. No-one would notice.

We are between Newmacher and Old Meldrum. Thanks for all your help - we found somewhere not far from Potterton where we were able to chuck everything. Not sure what the area was called though.....

It's a shire thing unfortunately. I recycle like mad, overfilling all of the poxy boxes they give me easily yet still generally struggle to last two weeks with my non-recyclables without a trip to the tip to get rid of some black bags. Really clever when the nearest one in upper Deeside is Banchory! So if you overfill your bins in Aboyne you've to do a 30 mile round trip by car to get rid of a few black bags.....what a cracking, non wasteful policy biweekly collections are.....mad

laugh We have a big recycling bin but apparantly it can only be used for paper, not card, JUST paper. It's crazy - back in London you put all recycling into one bag - bottles, cans, paper etc. This malarky is driving me mad!!!

The same Green Aberdeenshire Council that got hauled up in court and done for dumping acid batteries in a wood out at Inch last year?

It is a pretty poor collection system. I have actually started taking my recycling to Asda's bins at the weekend. o.O

So, A Queens Road resident are we? Or just another cheap joker who believes all suburban estates are sinks? Your reply is way below the usual standard of posts on here. You may wish to reconsider and amend your post, whatever, it's not remotely humourous and makes you sound like a snob.

I certainly wouldn't want to live there, or Tilly, Summerhill, Torry, Hilton, Powis, Seaton or any of teh other stty areas of Aberdeen. If that makes me a snob, so be it. It is my choice.
