Hi there folks, got myself in a bit of a situation.

I have tickets for myself and 2 friends for the Princes Street festivities on Hogmanay. Unfortunately i cannot, for love nor (a reasonable amount of) money find any accomodation for the night.

Other than staying sober and driving home after the event, does anyone have any ideas on what we could do with ourselves untill sober enough to drive home the next day?

Sleeping in the car was a possibility but i've been told it's illegal as i'd be drunk in charge of a motor vehicle.

Cheers,
Olie

Try a town near edinburgh. No further than a £20 taxi ride should find you a room for the night.

Hehe, pulling is top of my list but, "Can i bring my mate and his girlfriend back with us too?" may or may not go down well. biggrin

Everywhere in or nearby to Edinburgh for the night is requesting us book the place for minimum 3 nights. Not up for that am afraid.

That is not a bad idea actually!

Cheers for the offer but Inverness is a bit away biggrin Am sure we could rent one locally, and then go for a jaunt the next day. Hmmmmm.

I know it is illegal, but I really think you would be OK. I mean I dont think there would be to many police men/women who would say anything about it on New Years Eve. Surely?

I done it on Thursady night in Stirling after not getting into my friends Halls. It was fairly horrible but as a last resort would do it again in an instant.

If it's just the two of you, I can put you up on a double sofa bed if you need it (Leith Walk, about 5 mins Taxi from Princes St).

PM me if need be.

EDIT - Sorry, just read you + 2. Well, there's another short sofa in the same sitting room, but it's VERY short. ie needs someone < 5 foot to be comfortable. Obviously, if one of the stragglers is female, then my bed is also available, nay encouraged (with me in it, obviously)

Me and five friends got back from last years hogmanay in edinburgh for £40. You just have to pre book with a local firm and set a price before you set off. We were picked up from haymarket right back to linlithgow.

Sorry G, i sent you an email through here. It sent me a copy to say it had been sent?

Thanks very much for the outstanding offer but one of us is going to drive so we can get back through to a party in Glasgow straight after the bells.

Will mean staying sober for the first part of the night but i can see it running on into the wee, tiny and then larger hours of the morning.

Cheers for the offer though, much appreciated.

If you're heading straight through to Glasgow then the buses will still be running. Prices will probably have doubled, so expect £10-15 each.
No parking restrictions on the 1st, although they are back on the 2nd.
