Hello PH'ers,

I need to get my tubby MOT'd (there is no rush though, its always in my garage at the moment) however I want an MOT test centre that will MOT the car with car and consideration (is that a bit odd). To be honest I just don't want the car beaten about by some hashy overworked MOT tester.

Any recommendations on a good place to get an MOT that will show the car some respect?

Got to be JD Motors in Insch. They are both car daft and they will treat your car like their own. Tel 01464 821151 and ask for John or Dave. Train station is at their front door for train back to town

Thank you for the info. I was hoping for something a bit more local to town than they are. However I will keep their details with me. If there is anywhere in town that people know of, that would be appreciated as well.

Theres one in Portlethen, "Lethen Motors" I believe, the owner drives an old Morris 100 Traveller himself, and he has a small dedicated workforce, used to go there for my old Granny.

If thats any help.

Graham Hogg at Albyn Garage, Albyn Lane/Grove just down from Queen's X (tel 581164) Mot'd my Lotus for ages and the Fezza more recently.

He's been looking after all sorts of other classics for many years.

They've always been very fair - if it's a "fail" then that's for a good reason (e.g. front hoses on the Fezza "on their last legs" which I hadn't noticed whistle) and they treat motors with respect

Cheers

Yes, Ian Wood - highly recommended. We take all our classics there for MOT as he is strict but fair, and treats the cars right. Oh, he actually runs a Ford 300E van, immaculate in black, that we sold him many years ago!

smile I think it may be worth paying Ian a visit. I remember when his bro (I think) was building the boat right next to the garage.

Cool. I got to say the response has been brilliant.
It is an odd question, but certainly one that needs to be addressed. It's not wrong to want a garage to look after your car.

I remember a couple of years back I let the car in for an MOT at a garage (will remain nameless) and whilst it was there they actually overtook me in town. 3 teenage mechanics abusing my car. I got the MOT for free and I was told that they were fired, but thats besides the point. Since that day I have always been weary of garages. I did find a nice local lad that MOT'd the car but he has now retired. Hence the post smile

Cheers for that, I live a couple of streets away and my six will be out in the spring for it's MOT.
