Need some help here.

Donkey's years ago, I saw a video which was some footage from a diver hat-cam (recovered from the 'black box' following an incident).

In the video, the diver is looking at (I think) an NPT plug in a blind flange.

There is some dialogue with the supervisor and then the diver gets on to the plug with a shifter and then it shoots out like a bullet.

Does anyone have this video? I need it for a meeting this Thursday to illustrate a particular point.

Long shot I know but even if you can give me any leads on where I might find it, I'd be really grateful.

Cheers,

Eric smile

That'll be the one where he asks over the radio if he should go ahead and the supervisor hums and heys then says "do it if you think it it'll be okay." Funnily enough it wasn't and very nearly wipes him out... rolleyes Great example of p1ss poor supervision. Saw it a few times at all day events with Shell Expro about five or six years ago. Will ask around tomorrow and see if any of our HSE boys have it...

Haven't seen the Exige around for a while - everything ok?

Not sure how much help this is, but the guys at Falck Newtec use this as part of the padding for some of the courses they run.

Well that was harder than I thought but looks like I finally have a copy. It's part of a ten minute clip showing various incidents - I'm sure you can use Windows Movie Maker to cut out the bits you don't want. There's a chap dropping it off to me tonight on a memory stick. I can either email it up tomorrow or drop it by your work if it's too large...

As for the missing Exige? We've moved offices down to Union Plaza and in the council's infinite wisdom we only have a third of number of parking spaces we require. So now I'm getting fit and healthy walking to work every morning while the Exige sleeps in the garage. rolleyes

You're a star!

I thought I'd pretty much exhausted the options of trying to get hold of it. I even tried the HSE diving inspectorate guys who knew the clip but don't have a copy.

If it's of an emailable size, that'd be great. Otherwise, I could come down ans collect it.

Do you still have my contact details?

Cheers,

No worries, Eric. It's actually not as impressive as I remember so I hope it's suitable for what you need...

I've edited it to just include the clip you wanted - the top quality mpeg is 17meg but I've also saved a 3meg version. I'll chuck them on a disc for you and drop them off at your reception on my way to work

I can't host it but no reason I can think of why it couldn't be chucked on Youtube for the curious out there wink

It may not be impressive, but it put shivers up my spine watching it.

I too would be interested to see it again/get a copy for 'educational' purposes, I am sure Eric will give me a copy.

Glad you got a copy. I completed my Tropical BOSIET couple of months ago, they're using it as part of their training course there...

Sorry, 'impressive' was probably the wrong word to use. wink I rememeber it being a bit clearer and less confused when the fitting actually blows. It still demonstrates its point pretty well!

HB - sorry, not ignoring you but I don't have anything of much use to say right now.

We went through the clip this morning with my ES&SR colleagues (environment, safety and social responsibility rolleyes) and there's a whole lot to discuss.

The key to it all is the supervisor saying; "if you're happy with it, have a go".

In my crusade to engender a culture where people really do genuinely care for each other, this is a cracking illustration.

Thanks again Matt for getting it and dropping it off. I'm in your debt.

Cheers,

Eric smile
