Hey there all,

I'd like to get my 21 " alloys for my S class refurbished around the Hamilton/Glasgow area. Can anyone recommend a good place to have these done properly? A google search yields many results, but I'm looking for personal experiences.

Cheers

21" alloys on as S-Class? Hmm.

Chameleon Colour Coatings in Renfrew are supposed to be quite good, some of the folk on the Scottish SIDC have used them.

Need to get mine done too - 17" BBS splits.

Recommend anyone in the Edinburgh/central belt area?

you'll have a struggle finding anyone who will do split rims - and if you do find anyone then make sure they know how to reassemble the wheels correctly - wouldn't be the first pair of splits which fell apart later on, or were permanently "off balance".

I used jp-coatech in carnoustie who did an excellent job, but were VERY expensive

Yes Al no prob dude wink
First, in edin area for powder coating there is a boy at the back of Costco called Pentland something, they are right next door to Pentland precision engineering good job, pretty quick and reasonable price
In the Glasgow area Coatech Surface Technologies
73 Dundee Street
Carnoustie
DD7 7PN
There is a bit on the third page on of the car specialist bit of the scotland forum with the name of another company as well
There is a company down south who specialise in wheel refurb called Lepsons do all sorts of wheels, prob the place for the BBS splits
BBS say you need to buy new bolts for the wheels once they have been split but know people who have re used the bolts with no problems but am no engineer so dont really know bout that

Got a quote off this 'thepolisher' chap for my BBS split rims -

"mirror polish outer lips £120.00
powdercoat rear baskets, centre weave section and centre cap ring £200.00
re-building wheels £60.00
80 new chrome studs £120.00"

£125 per wheel, I knew it was gonna be pricey but crikey. If it's a good job it might be worth it I suppose.

Its a lot cheaper than new wheels, and they should be like new

That seems to be the going rate for doing that job

Nice one, thanks lads

What would be the likelyhood and timeframe of them starting to corrode again? I beleive this an inherent problem with all split rims.

If you keep them clean and polished they should last for ages, i realise that ages is not a period of time but it depends on how you look after them?
