I'm heading out to Singapore with work for a few days next week and just wondered if anyone who has been has any tips or advice. Places to go, things to avoid, stuff like that?

Also, what like are prices over there, comparative to here? For reference, you're getting about 230 singapore dollars to £100.

Cheers in advance!

Plenty to do and see. Just about everything you might be looking for really. Booze was expenisivish last time I was there, but not killer.

Good golf courses, but take your handicap certificate.

Weather will be warm, but check that out on the net before you go.

Chewing gum is illegal.

Don't spit in the streets or litter, you'll spend some time in the lock up.

Great restaurants and clubs that cater to expats........but that does tend to get expensive after a while.

Boat rides in the river can be cool if you haven't been there before.

Relax and enjoy,

Skippy

Chewing Gum isn't illegal, you just need to buy from a chemist. Ie does feel as if you're buying a controlled substance

The main shopping area is around Orchard Road and there are some good pubs and clubs eg. Zuek and Chimes. Clark Quay and Boat Quay are OK as well for food.

Best place I ate was at the Hyatt Hotel on Scott's Rd just off Orcgard Rd. They have a restaraunt called Mezzanine and it was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Not cheap mind you but not over the top on the expenses.

Just goes to show how the pound has devalued as it was 3 Singapore Dollars to the pound the few times I went.

Taxis are dirt cheap as well.

....and keep away from Orchard Towers

You get fined if you don't flush the bog!

I'd recommend you go to the museum. Very interesting!

....and keep away from Orchard Towers

only if your with your wife!! and if leaving the "four floors of *hores" (aka orchid towers) be wary of the very tall "girls" standing out side, they are not all they seem smile

Its a very safe and enjoyable city, Raffles hotel is a rip off, but you may want to do the tourist thing and have one drink there.

get down by the river, loads of good places to eat and drink smile

great place.... been there maybe 5 times now, and Fiona's dad has just moved out there.

We were over for the F1 a month or so ago. Great City, lots to do and see... and if you girlfriend/wife likes shopping you're in for hell!

Clark Quay, Robinson Quay and Boat Quay all worth a visit for pubs/clubs/restaurants.

Its not cheap, but prob nearly the same as UK.

Just got back from there on Sat morning after a week's business trip. Great cheap food. Expensive beer/fags. Cheap taxis. Hot and humid but not excessively, you'll soon get used to it.

Just don't chew gum/eat/drink on the MRT (underground). It puts the London undergound to shame.

Orchard Towers is worth a visit but an area called Geylang beats even that.
