An Absolutely miserable day yesterday, some good racing but pretty awful for trying to take pics.
I was well prepared for the weather but was soaked and freezing by the end of the day!

Did anybody else hear the rumour about Ian Donaldson's drive for next year??

No but I heard that Andy G may be leaving to do a spot of rallying. But it's all to be expected. You can't do the same thing forever, nor will most of them drive the same car forever.

But spill the beans pretty please smile

Lets just hope they ban 4x4 for next season so proper motor racing can be watched instead of who got the most money

I'd guess something like a grumpert or a caparo if he's got the money.

Oh and nice pics.

Yep, those 4x4 single seaters are ruining it.

Are you reffering to the retention of a production silhouette sitting on a spaceframe chassis and therefore only having a position for a single seat. Your correct i totaly agree.biggrin

Looks like Mr Absolutely has a friend, Why ban 4x4?
There will be nobody left if it was banned, Galloway,Gallacher,Shaw,Drummond,Whyte,Donaldson,Taddei all use 4 wheel drive and have some great scraps. Ok, Gallacher's car is leagues ahead of everything else but its fantastic.

Yeah the rumour was Donaldson will be running a full GT Spec Gallardo next year, can't wait!

Where does 4x4 leave the rest of the 4 classes? If you are in class E for instance and your lapping in 59 secs, ten laps is around 10 mins. Gallacher etc 50 when the goings good, 10 x 50 = 8 mins 20 secs approx, bit more for off the line. So the lesser classes are getting less for there money. There isnt many in the classes purely as a result of A class cars being so much quicker.

Basically the sports and saloons championships is dominated by A class, that does nothing for anyone looking to compete in sports and saloons who has limited funds. It also does nothing to promote the racing of sports and saloon in the other classes.

Remember a big number of 4x4 cars have joined and evolved purely to compete with the Gallacher focuses. This is even more so this year.

Knockhill being the only race track in Scotland with facilities to cater for the SMRC Sports and Saloons its got a boycott.Hence why there are plenty of good scottish clubman drivers going south of the border every week to compete in championships better suited more equal, affordable and enjoyable events.

This isnt even taking into account the reckless driving witnessed in some cases over the past year, pure bully tactics and lunge manouveres resulting in many cases to damage. This isnt race craft.

If they dont do anything about it it is in danger of turning into a gloryfied track day.

And as for Galloway,Gallacher,Shaw,Drummond,Whyte,Donaldson,Taddei that makes 7 competitors with 4x4. Whyte was in a honda touring car for most season 2 wheel drive, you still have 14 plus competitors without it on sunday, not counting the likes of Simpson, Pritchard, Nathan, Arrenberg, to name but a few who werent competing as well as countless more that it would bring back if it was more competitive toward the class B-E.

You could easily see grids of 25 plus, with cars closer matched and less argy bargy and more racecraft being used, than 7 cars in the wet getting top positions.

In that case can we ban that 911 aswell, I don't see anyone complain about him yet he rocks up with a huge truck full of stuff, in fact can we just ban all rwd cars too because I rather liked the accord that raced and feel the rwd cars have an advantage over it. No?

Motorsport has always been about who has the most money even in one make series, if you don't like it there's always golf?

Dont like golf. Some of us do it, some of us write about it. My voice is one of many competitors not spectators, remember we pay a lot of money not £12, therefore a detailed and technical repsonse not like the above would be appreciated, one based on current rules, regs, other championships to refference against.

I know how much the entry fee is and I'm guessing with the current rules and regs that the focus's , cossies, evos and gallardos are allowed to race otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to race therefore where is the problem?

Still my question still stands why not complain about the guy with the 911? I didn't see andy or Charlie or ian turning up with a huge professional truck yet he does?

A good driver in a huge number of cars, none of which are 4x4 would be quicker than the Gallardo.
Just because no one has done it yet is not a case to ban them (the 4x4s).
