Can any one help with a my speeding problem. Was zapped by a fixed camera near Blair Atholl at 2am on a Monday morning in August. Unfortunatley I passed the camera at 72mph, trouble was my vehicle is a 2004 VW Transporter 130bhp. As I have now discovered through, by my own mistake, I was actually 22mph over the speed limit for the van, not just 12mph over the 60 limit for a car.

My problem is panic. The police have advised they cannot deal with this through a fixed penalty and have now received today, court papers to return to the Procurator Fiscal.

Has anyone suffered this problem and if so can anyone give some indication of what penalty I can expect.

Any help or comments would be greatly appriciated. THANX

Probably around £250 and anything between 4 - 6 points.

You'll get the opportunity to attend court or you can plead guilty by post

I was in a similar situation a few years ago, 74 in a NSL, i was in a transit van so 24mph over the limit, i had to attend court and recieved 4 points and a £250 pound fine, unfortunately the 4 points took me over the limit and i was banned for 6 months which is the minimum for accumulated points.
Don't really have any advice for you unfortunately.

Good luck.

Did you (or the keeper of the van) receive the NIP within 14 days of being zapped?

If not, they may not have a case against you.
