I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find the thread so sorry for the repost!

Can anyone recommend a solicitor that's good with traffic offences either in Aberdeen or in Tayside?

Cheers!

100 in a 70

(A9 completely empty, dry, sunny).

Just as well I'd slowed considerably when the scamera van clocked me yikes

Ok so Steve has come clean, (good brakes on the Aston eh!), what about the OP?

Cmon do tell? The alleged charges of course, not your defence.

I got caught a year or so ago doing 90 in a 60 on a single section of the A9 northbound. It was a beautifull morning long straight, no traffic apart from two caravans being towed in front of me. I was overtaking them very briefly and quickly when I was caught. Resulting in 5 points and £250 at Kinguisie Court.

Snap! Exactly the same situation. Stuck behind a caravan for miles then first safe opportunity to overtake and I was done - 80 in the 60. Lucky to get off with 3 points and sixty quid. I hate the A9!

All the best.

Nosey buggers wink

It wasn't me (no, really), but it was 101 on the M90 at 11pm on Sunday night. Traffics half on the verge, half on the hard shoulder!

101's a definite ban isn't it? What's the chances of a shortened ban with mitigating circumstances, such as living 35 miles from work with no viable public transport meaning a possible move of house with a long term ban, leaving the person you live with short of rent?

That's a scary thought. I'm sure many have done the same in similar circumstances.

Don't hate the A9, hate the bad policing that puts speed traps on the safe overtaking opportunities.

Best of luck Tinohead, scammers are evil.

What's your previous history?

If it's clean bank on a 28 day ban with a nominal fine as the worst case scenario. On a good day, I reckon 6 points and a reasonable fine.

I very nearly got done for doing silly speeds south of Dunfermline about a month ago. I was overtaking a car and about to pass two more when I spotted a scamera van hidden underneath a tree about half a mile down the road. Visibility was excellent on the approx 1.5 mile stretch of straight road and so I went for it. I was all the way through fourth gear at the time in a 60 limit. This roughly equates to 130mph... yikes

The only sollution I fear (now that I've taken all my lucky pills) is to fit a device that interferes with the laser signal rather than simply warning you that you've already been done wink

All the very best if luck.

No - David Hingston got me off with £200 and 6 points.

Yeah including me, several years ago. Cruising down the A9 on a clear dry Sunday morning, not in a hurry, chatting to the missus, I come up behind a car that is varying his speed from 45 to 60 mph, very annoying, so first safe place I pull out, overtake and settle back down to 60. A few minutes later a black Volvo comes roaring up with the blues on, I actually slowed and moved over as far as I could because I thought they wanted to pass!! 3 points and £60! Driver of the ploice car was a real aggressive little femail as well.

Genuine question;

Do you think the outcome would have been different had the police driver been male?

Absolutely not, since they chased me its obvious that they were going to book me, but while her companion was relatively pleasant (male), she was really aggressive as I was explaining what I had done and why. I was being reasonable with them, just explaining and she was biting my head off. Very unnecessary, but can you say anything about it in these circumstances?

I got caught doing 94 on the long straight of the A96 adjacent to the Nexfor place. Bright and dry summer's night with no-one else on the road - 3 month ban but only £250 fine. Quite a few years ago though so not too big a deal now. Moral of the story: get a good lawyer experienced in traffic issues!

Thats what I thought! Actually I did almost say "you remind me of why I divorced my first wife" but I thought better of it. Besides I've only been married once (and still am) they could have had me for lying under a caution or something!biggrin
