Presumably these guys are loaded to be thrashing the cars about like that! Great shots.
Proper racers scrimp and save to race. If one can buy oneself a quick car and drive it badly and win thats another thing! Col 666 said:

I can tell you the name of the Porsche driver if your that bothered, he was pretty upset after what happened and he would have raised it with the organisers already. It was a daft overtaking move by Ian but its his first season so he'll learn....as it must be costing him a fortune in replacement parts!
I found out that the driver of the Ecosse car wasn't the Ecosse driver that I am friends with. I was going to console him if it was though.
Of course I'm not happy with him and Mr Docherty and Mr Gallacher, it is killing CLUB racing in Scotland. The class that they're racing in is what made Scotland's club racing famous. The minor teams are leaving the class because they have no hope in beating them. Big fish in a small pond, but if they go down south, they won't be allowed to race.

We are all getting very bored of your views, we know how you feel but I've yet to speak to anybody who agrees with you.Of course I'm not happy with him and Mr Docherty and Mr Gallacher, it is killing CLUB racing in Scotland. The sports/saloons is one of the most exciting and interesting classes at Knockhill, its bringing in the crowds not killing it off. These guys are spending a fortune building the fastest most spectacular cars ever seen in scotland and your slating them?
Donaldson,Gallacher,Shaw,Galloway should all be applauded for running these machines.

Well, shall I put it another way, imagine, McLaren bring out a car that has a V12 6 litre Formula 1 car that beats everyone by 2 laps, there would be an uproar throughout the F1 paddock. They banned Ron Cumming from bringing his F1 car into the Formula Libre race, why can't they do it to some of these guys?
You've said it yourself, the club are using your photos as evidence, he is clearly doing something wrong.
I am defending the future of the club, I am not trying to make friends and influence people.

who exactly do you want to ban? is it OK for the Porsche's to play?
Edited by billberks2 on Monday 15th September 17:17
Well, the Porsches can play, when Tim Bartlet raced the GT2 he kept out of people's way and still won. Banning is too harsh, restriction on engine size maybe? Power/weight ratio classes?
When I raced I had a 1700 engine, I was up against Colin Simpson's Marcos (I have nothing against Colin apart from 1 incident involving Dad) and numerous turbo'd Cosworths in the same class! Now, I'd be in against Colin still, Ian, Chris, Andrew and Tommy, still in the same class.

The FIA have regulations so it would never happen in F1, with all your years in Motorsport you surely knew that? You've said it yourself, the club are using your photos as evidence, he is clearly doing something wrong.

This is the beauty of this series, there are no limits to what the owner can do thats what makes it so good to watch, making all sorts of restrictions will just ruin it.
There are cars running in the classic series that have maybe 4 times the power of the backmarkers but I dont hear them complaining.

The porsches that take part are purpose built race cars that probably cost the same if not more than the Lamborghini so why dont you have a problem with them? When I raced I had a 1700 engine, I was up against Colin Simpson's Marcos (I have nothing against Colin apart from 1 incident involving Dad) and numerous turbo'd Cosworths in the same class! The problem is not with the cars and their performance of AG, ID, TG , CS etc etc, but with the mix of classes that run in that particular race - they should split it up to give those with realtively slower (but still fast) cars/drivers a chance of winning.
On a dry day, Robert Pritchard in his caterham gives Andrew a good race - David Headen, also a caterham driver, can also keep up with Andrew. Do people have a problem with them (Robert was the person that was winning the majority of races for a while before AG came along, was there a campaign against him?????)
As to throwing money at it - Andrew built his car from 4 posts.. and his preious cars were built from nothing more than shells. He puts in a lot of long nights to get his car ready (finished his car at 5.30am on the day of the first race!). I know that Tony and Charlie also spend a lot of time on their cars. Ian prefers to invest due to other time commitments - and fair enough - why not.
As to the "incident" on sunday re the lambo and porche - that racing. If you go on a track with other cars, you have to be prepared to have the car towed/lifted off the track with a nasty repair bill waiting to bite yer bum!
Racing is racing its not a procession. Apparently the incident was investigated by the stewards, they watched the videos from on board, the lambo locked up a wheel and was therefore a racing incident, it would have been far worse if he had slid into the back of the porsche as it would have been destroyed.
