Would be nice, as I'm only about 30 minutes away from Gatehouse....save me travelling the 2 hour drive up to Knockhill.

But nowt will come of it....probably.

It ticks all the SNP boxes though.
Foreign money into the country.
Jobs created in the country.
A 'centre of excellence'.

Something that they can tie into some of the few successful people to come out of Scotland in the last 20 years.

I strongly disagree.
(I do appologise for my initial wording, it was unacceptable)

You ass
Why? The man has a point.

Scotland needs to wake up and smell the coffee. It's cash rich, but has nothing to show for it.

The Trump golf course is a prime example of the NIMBY attitude that so desperately needs to change. It's the reason Scotland lags behind in most popular sporting activities. That and the lazy, old-fashioned attitudes of local councils and central government.

This needs to change.

I for one, hope the proposed plan for a new track/centre of excellence succeeds so that we do actually have something to be proud of other than the deep-fried Mars bar.

The SNP are the only way forward for Scotland economically. They've been in power long enough that that's quite apparent now.

Good grief, it really is Friday afternoon isn't it chaps. Surely you had a massive tongue in your cheek when you typed this. Why don't you take a look at the numbers and then get back to us. If you really think that fat idiot and his pal Swinney can seriously make a go of Scotland as an independent country then you really need to re-sit your higher maths.

I'd hazzard a guess that I'm more mathematically qualified than you! smile I genuinely believe that the SNP have Scotland's interests at heart, certainly more so than any party that has a base in Westminster! We will be a far richer country when independent. And, yes, I use the words 'will' and 'when' deliberately!

There has been more than "a few" successful people to come out of Scotland in the last 20 years. I am happy to leave your political opinions alone, we all have our own.

I think you have completely misunderstood my point. I was pointing out reasons why I think this may go ahead.
Check my profile, I am from Scotland.
I know fine well that many Scots are successful.
I am talking about politics, how things work and recent examples.
To get support for something like this politicians need to be sold on the idea as publicly, politically and image beneficial.
Look at Salmond and the Craig Hoy scenario for a recent example.

I am glad the SNP are in Office, compared to the last lot they are wonderful but, at the end of the day they are still politicians.

Cllr Ford that held the casting vote against the Trump golf course does not represent the majority. The same man is objecting to the Aberdeen by-pass and the Aberdeen airport extension. Local business's and the majority of the local population have been actively lobbying in support of all three. If blame lies at the feet of the people of Scotland, it is for lethargy at the ballot box and allowing wooly extremists into positions of influence. I think/hope we have woken up now. I took exception to the suggestion that Scotland has not produced many succesful people in the last 20 years, Scotland is a great country with thousands of successful leaders.

Major decisions (like those being made around Aberdeen) should go to ballot. They affect our lives so some 'cooncillir' shouldn't be able to make that decision.

If said 'cooncillir' doesn't know what to do then they should go and see the constituents that they represent to make a decision that will benefit the masses.

Major Scottish decisions should be made the same way with the MPs that we elect seeking us out and making the correct decision.

Anyway - bring on a new track!
