hi there, i'm really interested in trying to start working offshore as a roustabout or suchlikes, any advice or tips on how to get started or the best way to try and get into it? its something i'd be really keen to do!

Plenty oil workers on here.

You need your survival & greenhand to be considered for starting out on the ladder unless you have some qualifications.

Survival £680 and green hand about £1000. Agencies not interested unless you have these.

Offshore eng here - you wont be so keen when you are roustying!

I am indeed, but a bit miffed....I am in Oban the following week from your suggested trip frown

Booked a wee cottage for 4 days (well more like a converted garage, but hey it's not Scumdee)

is there any drilling companies recruiting at the moment as the other halfs brother has his greenhand and survival but just cant get anywhere.

How often is he contacting them? I would imagine everyone is recruiting but it's all about pestering them day in day out. Even if they have your CV registered you still have to do the work to get your name heard.

he's not doing it as often now but was atleast every week if not more until a couple months ago.

He needs to get back on it then. Ask anyone out here as I have asked them and they all say you have to keep pestering the companies.
