Hi

Have been chatting to a few guys with Ferrari's Masers and Lambos about the Graypaul event on Sunday at Knockhill. Graypaul are keen to get marque owners from their brands to go on track, but it costs £125 per car! Take up unsurprisingly has been slow! Some of the guys who own Ferrari's are trying to get the Scottish branch of the owners club up and running both formally and informally. They are hoping to meet some owners at Knockhill this Sunday and persuade them to come along to drives or lunches etc. AS a possible idea I have suggested that from Knockhill, perhaps late morning, we could head off for a drive and find somewhere nice but not expnesive for lunch?

This is just an idea, but if people are interested could they reply or private me? Not suggesting should be only limited to those marques, but are trying to draw some owners together and get some nice drives and chats organised.

Please let me know?

Paul

Err Paul wonderful idea but spare a thought for us plebs going up whith their son & daughter to look at the cars in the paddock and finding they all bugger off at lunchtime for an hour or so...

Oh and is £125 for a full day on track plus lunch not reasonably good value compared to what you would pay for 2 hours on an evening?

Four groups will be going out on track, 15 minutes each in rotation. Lunch is at the drivers cost as far as I can make out, so not especially great value. Some good stuff will be on track though. Anyone else going?

Think my 3.2 Alfa might not fit in on this run....but is this an event anyone can turn up to spectate, just like a club track day night I suppose?
If so its too close for me to resist popping up for a look at some nice Italian metal, and i have no other plans for Sunday!

Hi
the event is being organised by Graypaul for it's customers and i understood cars being split into five groups, but have not spoken to organisers. For details may wish to speak to them in Edinburgh.

Was a suggestion that may be random Ferrari's turning up and had hoped to meet the drivers to try to interest them in future events. that is David and gavin's idea and I was therefore floating via them and on here this aditional idea.

Suppose it will be weather dependant as to who turns up and what happens

Cant make it this year but last year was a blast. If I recall, all the cars stopped for lunch to let the organisers get some scoff too. I had some pals come down to spectate and they loved it. Pay the cash and get in, it was a great day out. Traction control on at the hair pin is for puffs.

I enquired about it. Effectively it works out as no more than 2 hours track time in total - 15 minute slots. One per hour. Two hours in morning and two in afternoon. I'm not convinced that it is worth it for the £125 and not sure I like the idea of the intermittent nature of the access to track. I think I'd rather go with an SIDC day (one on Saturday which sadly I can't make).

I liked the sound of what you were suggesting though - if Masers are included wink

Hi
I wa hoping for any nice car to come along as long as people like old Italian cars! I am waiting to hear form avin and David before confirming. Even if we have 5 cars it would be nice to go for a wee run late morning and then stop for lunch and split after that?

You avaialble for Sunday?

Please let me know if people ar intersted and what type of cars are suggested?

Paul are you only wanting Italian cars? Would an old American be allowed?

Hi

Yes the proposed plan is to try to kick some life into the Ferrari club up here or people with those types of cars. However, as we are all hopefully petrolheads and not everyone has Ferraris/lambos etc then I dont see any problem with including other cars as was done on the glasgow Tunnel run which I went to.

Take up has been very poor so far though for this sunday and not sure aything may happen for then

Keep an eye out for posts though as we are keen to do what we can!!

2 x TVR Sagaris are taking part in event. Wasn't entirely sure of format, should be a good spectacle if weather holds. Agree that SIDC is excellent value for money and extremely well organised.

why 125notes? if they are wanting the cars because they attract visitors they shouldn't be charging through the roof. I hate the mentality that because some people have money or more than others they are expected to not know the value of it.

when I don't want to pay for something or im surprised by the price of something i get: 'oh it's not like you cant afford it' rubbish.

This is the most extortionate amount for a TD at KH. Its a full day but sessioned rather than open pit. I was invited for a place but wasn't interested at all. Wasn't like this in the previous years. Why waste money and time to be with other supercar owners who may not drive their cars well???

The SIDC TD yesterday was excellent.
