Eating out in Edinburgh
Discussion
Hi all from me down south.
I am going to be in Edinburgh in a few weeks and am going out for a meal with my girlfriend, having only been there once before I am looking for some recomendations for where to go for a nice meal. I am flexible on style of food, nothing TOO pricey but nothing cheap.
Am hoping that someone can recomend me somewhere nice.
Thanks in advance for your help

There is a great Italian on Dalry Road near Haymarket called Le Partinope or on Castle Street, just off Princes Street, there is a very nice Thai Restaurant called Time 4 Thia. Or on the South Side (West Nicholson Street) there is the Pink Olive (www.ilovepinkolive.co.uk) The Mussel Inn on Rose Street is good if a little cramped or you could venture down to Leith and thats a whole new ball game!

I always seem to end up in Leith for some reason.
Fishers is one of my favourites.
I've never eaten at Kitchin but it comes highly recommended.
If you want to push the boat out, try Martin Wishart but you'll have to book well in advance.
I hope you're made to feel welcome during your visit - actually, I'm sure you will be.
Cheers,
Eric

Kitchin looks great, it is just a 5 min walk from my good friends house but...
A michelin star restaurant. It isn't cheap.
Tom is a very good chef. He was in my Sister's year at school and his Sister is a good friend of mine. I'd like to go and sample the delights of his food. A michelin star restaurant. It isn't cheap.
Back on topic - just remembered the wee adventure Murray and I had earlier this year.
The restaurant was pretty good - although I didn't choose very well.
Two things to think about though ...

- The entrance isn't exactly salubrious so if that's a factor for your G/F, give it a miss.
- The views are impressive and hence a part of the whole experience. In the dark, I'd prolly not mark it the same.
