Taken from BBC!

Heads up chaps.

Officers will be patroling the main roads linking Edinburgh with the rest of the country, including the A90, A1, and A720 city bypass.

Insp Jill Kerr said it aimed to target speeding drivers and enforce seatbelt and mobile phone laws.

She said: "Excessive speed is often a major factor in fatal and serious collisions which occur on our roads and the intention of this day of action is to remind drivers on motorway and other fast road routes to stick to the speed limit and exercise due care and attention.

"We are committed to reducing the number of casualties on our roads, as well as improving driver education through effective education and enforcement."

B censoredks it has been proven again and agin that speed is a factor in about 6% of accidents! So its another revenue chaser!
The police would get an awful lot more respect if they didnt continually lie about stats!

More need to target the fekkers in their caravans!! I swear to god I cannot understand why these beige people end up turning lawbreaker for 2 weeks in the summertime when they hook up the portaloo and head off for 2 weeks of mobile chicanery! Rear view mirrors are required by law and the attitude of "I've already seen whats behind me" is not acceptable, if they spend a fortue on a portapotty then surely £30 for a mirror isn't asking too much?
Rant over, sorry,

Its similar stereotyping that makes some people think that all drivers of performance cars are dangerous lunatics. rolleyes

Camera Van's obviously working overtime, saw one lurking on the A90 (southbound) about 5 miles south of Stonehaven at about 8.45pm last nigt ! Van was partially hidden behind a verge so not an easy one to spot from a distance....

It really depends on how much you wanna spend. I currently have a Road Angel Plus, and I can honestly say it has done me wonders. Saved my licence a good few times.

Look her for further information. http://www.nav-now.co.uk/product.php?fdProductId=1...

Mr T,
I have the previous version of Road Angel, the one that looks similar not the earliest version. Did you upgrade to that one? If so do you find a big difference between the two?

G,

Which one did you currently have? The Road Angel Plus, will tell you what Speed Camera is ahead, what speed the camera is set too, and your actually speed. However, I have only driven past a mobile speed van twice, which it has never shouted, 'laser laser'. But it does give you all mobile sides. Excellent if you're driving in places you don't know. Set it too 1000 metres and jobs a good yin! thumbup
It's also great as you don't need any cables. Just charge it at the mains.

He is also a video. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=NO_cRhndWdA&feat...
Any questions give me a shout.

YUP!
but there again there are an awful lot of motorhomes up here often driven if thats the right term by foreigners who don't give a monkeys for the other road users. I'm here for the scenery so you'll just have to wait....

HOWEVER: whilst I am TOTALLY against speed cameras in otherwise safe places, I would condone them if they were in a location where the limits are ignored and the "offender" hence likely or may possibly cause an accident to other road users. ie school site (yes I know they are on hols) entering a town or village where the streets and footways are narrow or no footways through a country area where there are houses etc . Drive a 40mph stretch every day wherre therer are no footways and get passed by nutters doing a lot more. There are school kids waiting to be picked up by the bus, folks walking etc.
And as for mobile phone use, I thought there was a ban on hand held phones, you wouldn't think so! Time that was enforced, having been nearly forced off the road a few times by people who would rather talk and text than concentrate on their driving.

What you want is a "Laser Pro Park" parking sensor which can also be set up to remotely open your garage door and turn the lights on etc. I'm also led to believe that it has the unfortunate side effect of jamming the Rozza's Laser gun since it emmits on the same frequency, and since its an unliscenced frequency is therefore not braking any laws.wink

I saw a camera detector that had a built-in mobile phone, so it would update itself on the move. I forget what type it was though. A great feature would be the ability to "add" mobile camera sites as you pass them, which are then updated on the database for other drivers. It's been discussed before, but I've not seen anything that incorporates it.

The laser park pro looks like just what I need for opeig my garage door, though.. interesting piece of kit!
