1st week in August, I'm planning a trip up to the west coast of Scotland with my Brother-in-law and a mate. We've travelled around most of Scotland in years gone past, but this time, I'm looking for decent driving roads that are a bit off the beaten track. Not worried about how slow they are, just reasonably smooth with a bit of swervery thown in. Any suggestions peeps?

Do a search, there's so much on here about that exact route...Applecross etc.
My favorite though is the run from Inverarnan to Plockton....thats a good road.

If your going to Skye, A863 from Sligachan to Dunvegan has got the lot - hairpin bends, long very fast straights, most of it is quite well sighted. My all time favourite road. Wide and well surfaced too.

Have a look on GetCarter (PH username) website as it has a great route on it. Steve gave me lots of advice earlier in the year and I spend 6 days driving around staying in different places. Absolute driving bliss!

Another good one is from Shiel Bridge to Glenelg over the Mam Rattagan pass, a road that give the Applecross road a run for its money!! once at Glenelg you can take the wee ferry across to Skye, The Talisker distillery is highly reccomended. (check out the water in the wash hand basins there, its the same colour as the whisky )

Thanks guys. Will review and formulate a cunning plan. coffee

Dunno if I will be doing this on a Bike or in the Aston. Was planning on Biking but as I don't own a bike, its going to be a bit tricky! (Currently looking into bike hire but there's bugger all up north (England)).

As you and I seem to have identical Astons, we'd better not be in the same place at the same time (could be embarrassing!)

If you are near Shieldaig on Sat 2nd Aug, there are about 16 PHs doing a 'sports car line up'

http://www.stevecarter.com/ansh/2008fete.htm

Do join in if you want (though, lets not get the keys mixed up).

Let me know if you are interested.

Hi Steve,

Doubt we would get the Vantages mixed up. I've just fitted neon lights under mine and a Nascar wing. Looks awseome!

Regarding the PH thing, YHM.....

Err, before I get an Aston 'Fatwa' issued, I was only joking about the neons!
Wing looks good though ....... NOOO still only joking!!!!!!
