A few pictures to give a flavour of the recent trip to Zolder from Aberdeen via Hexham and Nurburgring.

1245 miles later, £370 worth of fuel lighter (average 20 mpg - down to 10 mpg on track) and some great laughs along the way....... (no mention of a certain individual getting stuck in a wardrobe after a wee drinking session!!!!

A great time had by all......and we came back with some trophies!

Cheers

Neil

Aye right! Highlight was your 360 degree 'drift' at Zolder - it was mint!

What a lot of great pics, how did you find the ring, and anybody have difficulty with noise levels? Will be there 1st week in july, so hope to have some pics and vid also. Anyone got insurance for the ring as I am having difficulty finding cover for the ring.

We got static noise tested - 100dB at 3500rpm is the limit - my Sag scraped by at 99.3 dB, both Tamora's failed at 104dB. I think 10 Tiv's arriving en mass alerted them as they do not noise test everyone.

21 euros per lap, 70 euros for 4 laps. Public session was 5.45pm to 7.45pm. Highly recommend Hotel Am-Tiergarten to stay - Sabine Schmitz family own the hotel, les than 5 mins from track entrance. Great experience all round!

Hmm don't like the sound of the static test, I'll have to sneak in quietly and get the wife to put my ticket in the gate machine. Still 3.5k revs isn't too bad, might have to take some alternatives if I fail the test.
Staying at the Wilhelmshoehe, which is a bit further away but will give us the chance to relax away from the track during the days. Just hope it is dry for some of the time, not going out in the rain, toooo scary [even around here]

Was a total blast..... I can honestly say i've never had as much fun with the car as the entire trip and experience... hard to pinpoint any defining moment as the whole thing was brill.
Then again, after driving through 5 countries at some silly speeds - (legally) it brings it all home when I get pulled in Aberdeen for having no front plate..... Welcome home......

As far as i'm aware, of the people that went on the Nurburgring or the track Zolder, we had no insurance. We all got cover for driving in Europe but I mentioned the ring specifically and they said no.
One lad told me that his company wouldn't even come out to the town of Nurburg as chances are it was damaged on the track.
If you hit a barrier, you have to pay the costs + recovery off the track before they will release your car so it is worth considering.

Found one specialist company who will insure the car but no 3rd parties or damage to track, £509 for 4x2hr slots on the ring. Maybe just have to be careful.

Not an answer to Thevet's question I know but I had trackday cover at Zolder with my insurance at no extra cost

Sunninghill agreed to cover Zolder but not the Ring. Mannings agree to cover events organised by ARDS, ATDO plus one other, excluding Europe.

http://www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk/ gave me a quote for a single day @ Knockhill. £4,500 excess and £370 premium for one day !!!

Admission, David took all the pics! 554 to be precise. New Canon L series lenses are superb, Zolder not great for 70-200 so no panning shots!
