The building of the trams are one of the problems, but our very smart council also seem to approved roadworks on other roads at the same time. Up where I live they decided to dig up South Clerk street towrads Minto street for gasworks, while also digging up causeway side at the same time. Therefore you have 2 main arterial routes with roadworks. You would think these "bright sparks" at the council would think about it a bit more. (I will try not to be more sarcy)

Try coming in from the east of the city, Major raod works at seafeild round about " use diversion Willowbrae road", only no one told gas board that & they have dug that up for 16 weeks, joy of joys. Does anyone in the council speak to each other(about work)

Hello,

I live in Glasgow, but used to work a lot around different sites in Edinburgh and have recently changed jobs to work on contracts nearer Glasgow because it was so bad. It was getting to the stage it was taking up to 45 minutes to get from the city centre to the motorway so I can sympathise

Total chaos, coupled with the A1 works at new QMU/B&Q off ramp.

Every year they always seem to start roadworks on both main routes from Penicuik at the same time!

Never ceases to amaze me.

I live and work in town centre and it is just complete chaos at the moment.

I use push bike on most days.

No one would ever suggest that it is deliberate so that when the trams are ready all will seem so free flowing and great.

Anyone remember the unusual traffic light routines during the congestion charge referendum? All the right turn filters that suddenly stopped working for example.

Erm, it's not just road works for Trams, far from it!

My point exactly. Why do major works on several routes simultaneously?
If you want something that is possibly not going to work, appear to work then make things artificially worse prior to it.

I'm utterly convinced that Edinburgh traffic flow is designed for maximum hassle and to try and p1ss the motorist right out of the city!

They are f*cking everywhere. Stopped using the car in town during the week,it's got so bad. My favourite was the ones at Brandon terrace/Inverleith Row/Canon street intersection, when all three temporary traffic lights were stuck on red. mad
