Hah, I worked in that depot as a summer job when I was a student (it was a KwikFit in those days...it were all fields, are far as the eye could see...).
The interview had 1 question: 'have you got your own tools?'. An answer in the affirmative secured the position. Training was slightly less than 5 minutes - 'the exhausts are over the back there, the gaskets are on that shelf, and the brake pads and shoes are in the wee shed'. Ah, the joys of trying to fit 1.6 Capri exhausts on 1.3 Cortinas.... Fond memories of bodging repairs, setting cars alight (by accident), hooning up the road in complete strangers' cars (just testing there's no rattles sir). And of course the aformentioned is the reason I have never taken any of my cars to any fast-fit stylee depot for anything other than changing tyres. Jeez, as I was writing this it all seemed real recent - I've just worked out it was more than 30 years ago .
Oh, and I preferred the original wheels too
