You guys in the Exige's were just too quick round the corners! Sag was just too scary for me in the wet, almost impossible to get power down. The Fezza sounded awesome smile Loved the scrap between it and Tut!

Why don't any of these people stick racing mods aka extinguisher and power pull onto their cars and come and race with the SMRC?

It's the only way we can keep up with you lot in the bigger power cars I was left for dead so many times on the straights yesterday, at least by the time it dried out I could start to use a higher exit speed to get a run at you on the straights!

The Exige was tricky in the wet, so I don't even want to think what a Sagaris was like eek

good one of my Atom.

It was pretty brutal int he wet early on, but was going really well by then end as the dry line appeared. Braking for me was as much of a challenge, if not more than getting the power down.

Hats off to SIDC - another great day

as one of 'these people' allbeit for a short time at the end in the dry (as I only had slicks)...beacuse:

1) Risk of damage. Sure, cars can get trashed on a track day but its usually the driver overcooking it themselves and having an off. Panel damage or worse from paintwork-to-paintwork driving is rare. That's the main reason I don't/won't race. Sure if someone wants to sponsor me and cover the cost of any damage then fine; but as that just isn't going to happen, and damage is going to come out of my pocket then it's a risk I'm not prepared to take.

2) For £100 notes or so you get 4 hours driving (or sitting in the rain, in my casewink). You don't get that many laps for the same kind of cash in racing as far as I can see. I can accept the arguement that 20 minutes racing is a bigger 'high' than as-many-laps-as-you-want on a track day, but not for me. I've friends that race bikes and most of the race day is spent sitting around waiting, tinkering, fixing. The actual race time isn't that great. For my part, as a yoof many years ago I did ski competitively...at least I tried. I recall the hours waiting to race thinking this is just wasted time when I could be skiing. I gave up in the end simply because I wanted to ski for the maximum time and not just a couple of minutes 'hit'. I feel the same about racing vs track days. Assuming my car was up for it (which it still isn't frown), I'd want to be driving the whole time, not sitting around waiting.

Oh, and I do have a fire extinguisher and FIA cut-outwink

I can prove that smile Your fire extinguisher very nearly came in handy too!

Good answer Willie, not a pleasant feeling going sideways @ Duffus towards tyre-wall. Kind of focuses mind that I'm just about to stuff a £40K uninsured car frown
