Afternoon all!

I was at the "Young Driver Challenge 2008" at Dalkieth Police College today. Taken out in unmarked cars and showen how to drive etc etc.
Anyway reason for post, is that they have bought a new toy, which catches all drivers and motorbikes front and back. It's got four cameras all over the van. Camera takes your speed, once you drive past it, there is a slow mo camera, which gets your plate.

Like I said just a heads up for people in this area. The camera man which I met, was a cocky bd. I walked in the van and said "I can smell the money this makes, to which he reply, "thats my pension." rolleyes

Are you suprised? If you ask a cocky question like that, you're going to get a cocky answer.

Yeah thanks for the heads up. It to this day depresses me that they think this sort of thing is good. I am a firm believer that if I get pulled over by a real cop and they give me a bking then I will actually listen to them.
Does it stop drink driving or dangerous driving nope.

Thanks again. My eyes will be peeled for them rather than watching the road.

Did you find out if the scameras were worked by laser to work out the speed or not?

If laser, a garage door opener may beat it?

And if it Scamming out of dullkeith it will be working the south of Edinburgh.

It's a laser mate. The camera alone cost 30k, and the 4 cameras with onboard screen cost 40k. The whole van costs over 100k. The "saftey camera team" where at dalkeith to show it off and to warn us. The video that they had playing in the van was at silverknows sites? Sorry not sure if thats right, but they van was sitting somewhere near the golf course, and he said silver something. The camera is just like a video, that plays then goes onto a dvd recorder, then burns onto CD discs.

You would be blind to miss the van, however as the chap said, "by the time you see us, you're already done"

probably was silverknows m8, it is a favourite place for them, even in my dads day!

But if you have a garage door opening system.........NOT ILLEGAL if they actually do what they are supposed to do, like turn on a light or open a garage door, but if you have the car transmitter and not the receiver on your house whatever, then they can nail you.

Here is some pictures people. You can see that they have started parking the van infront of speed cameras!
Out of order IMO. You can see all the cameras, and the slow mo one which gets your plate, which is the small white one at the front.
