Later this month am going to working in Edinburgh, found it impossible to find a hotel with secure parking for my Chimaera, any thoughts, don't feel like leaving it in an NCP for two night

It's not secure parking but out by the zoo on the way to corstorphine there's a big Holiday Inn (i think) in fact it's just right by the zoo i think .. way out of town past murrayfield so probably as safe as youre going to get ? edited to add a day bus ticket is dirt cheap and the buses are clean and tidy so about as easy a commute as you'd get? though i have to say i dont know this Meadows you talk about hehe )

Back in the 90's the hotel next to the zoo, not sure what chain it was then, had a terrible reputation for cars being broken in to.

If I remember rightly, the Caledonian and New Balmoral have secure parking, but they are a tad on the pricey side and I'm not sure of your budget. Is this just overnight parking or during the day as well since parking around the Meadows is a nightmare? The Holiday Inn at the Zoo would be OK but busing from there to the Meadows would be quite a treck timewise (have to change buses!) There are several small hotels around Polworth that have off street parking that would be fairly secure for your P&J, you know behind a wall in front to the side of the building etc. Prestonfield House has parking, its outside but up a long drive and in the middle of Prestonfield Golf course. The King James Thistle Hotel has underground parking, but that is open to the public for the StJames's Centre, it is however monitored by cctv. The Hilton National has pretty secure(down a steep drive well away from the street)off road parking in front of reception.

Hope this helps.

The Sheraton has secure covered parking if it is within budget. Parking is an extra £8 per night on top of the room rate if I remeber correctly.

There's a premier travel inn on Morrison St that's got parking.
The car park at chalmers st, albeit ncp is probs awreet too.

There's a car park just off fountainbridge, behind the bar called Cargo. Dunno what the car park is like though.

Safest bet is probably on street around bruntsfield/merchiston way. Just find something more flash and park next to that.

Keep away from the student slums of Marchmont and you'll be fine.

If you're completely stuck then you can park it in my workshop. However its 15 miles away from Edinburgh city centre in the middle of the country so getting too and fro Edinburgh would be a bit of trek!

Hi mate i currently work for NCP and understand your concerns about security, however we operate the car park at the recently opened Quartermile project. It is situated where the old royal infirmary hospital site was on Lauriston Place. If you require more information you can contact the Team Leader on 07825364224.

Stupidly expensive and difficult to get to as you have to drive through the worst of the city centre traffic to get there though.
There are alot of places in Edinburgh just as safe and easier to get to than the q park. If you are willing to hop on a bus there are many streets you can leave a car on over night just out of the city and it will cost you £4 for 2 single bus journeys to and from your car.

Yep Sheraton on Lothian Road has good parking, central and easy (and pleasant) walk distance to the Meadows.

We had a conference there a few years in a row.

There's a Brewdog pub next door and Wetherspoon (old Caley Picture House) over the road. BUT plenty of local indi bars too that are much nicer.

Edinburgh is great as far as cities go.
