Riding this on my bike this weekend (pedalling), was wondering if Mr Carter will be doing event photography again this year? If so, smile at me kindly, I'll be the sweaty slow chap at the rear..........

I'll be there. You are (for the record) completely mad.

After 4 weeks of sunshine we are having our first rain tomorrow... probably a good thing as heat would kill a few off!

Good luck (By the way - what time do you start?)

(Oh, and - this bloke did it in 2 hours 17 last year yikes )

I have to admit to some nerves today, actually quite a lot.

I'm starting at 10:30 hopefully to make most use of the time the pass is closed to traffic as i think I will need it. My target time is 4 hrs if I finish!!

For those wondering what we are talking about, heres the route

Registration is 0730hrs to 0930hrs tomorrow or 1800hrs to 2000 hrs tonight.

Pasta Party tonight at the Tigh-an-Eileen Hotel tonight from 1800hrs.

Me, I'll be setting up my tent at the Applecross Campsite and heading to the pub for some beer, excellent preparation option I think!!

Off to start the drive up now.

Beat my expected time. Placed 350th in 3h48m. Only stopped once on the climb, wouldn't have stopped if I knew how close to the hairpins I was but I thought I had around 1.5 miles left when it was only 200m!! Really strange climbing in thick fog but at least I didn't know how far i had to go!! I'll be back next year with a 3 hr target!! I'm entered for the Bealach Mor but I'm not sure after yesterday how I would manage. Minded to scratch my entry for now but I'll see come September.

Did I see your Aston on the way out of Sheildaig?
