Keep getting phone calls from these guys:

http://www.g-energygroup.com/

Admittedly, they do sound quite professional on the phone.. i stupidly agreed to an information pack. He wants me to invest $49,000 for a 2% share on a 3 well (oil obviously) package.

Each well will take 3 weeks to construct and after that oil production would be between 20-250 barrels a day.

He threw lots of jabber at me and kept going on in oil-speak.

Lost my patience and told him i wasn't interested after he wouldn't let me go.

Now surely if it was that great an investment, i should be calling him and not the other way around??

Anyone in the know want to help me confuse him with oil speak? he rattled on about Knox Formation and non-wildcat drilling etc.

If they're genuine and as good as that website says, why do they need to phone in the UK for investment ?

250 barrels of oil a day? I am working for a beach related company at the moment and the field they just sold produced 115,000 barrels a day at its peak.

A quick look at Companies House tells us that they are a "Non-trading Company" filing "Dormant Accounts" with their registered office c/o a firm of Certified Accountants in Hackney

Sounds very dodgy to me. I work in teh oil industry and even a small well would produce 2000-3000 barrels a day in the north sea.
$49000 seems a small amount as well. Say for example an offshore rig to hire would be hundreds of thousands of dollars a day. Even a land rig to hire would be 10 of thousands of dollars a day.

Definatleyu sounds like a fishing scam

I had one of these a couple of years ago. I asked the guy (Romanian) if had ever seen the film Boiler Room, and he said yes, great movie, and we chatted about what a great film it was until I said "So thats why you can b£gger off". He took it well though....

It probably is a scam, but the costs/returns/completion time would indicate this is a land well developement, $49K being 2% stake would be around $2.5milion total cost, that does not seem far out for simple wells.

Taking a P50 of 125bbpd from all three wells at $100/bb that is $12500/day return, less operating costs, tax etc if it was genuine it could be a good investment, however, if the well goes wrong and the development costs increase the 2% investor woulod be liable to an additional 2% of the increase, whcih when thing do go wrong can add up.

But it is more likely a scam so walk away.
