Does anyone know of a good independent M3 (E46) specialist in the Aberdeen area
All the best.
If you have a look at page 3 of the car specialists topic in the scotland forum, you will see mention of JD Engineering in Insch, I have used them for the Corvette and ASBO has use them extensively for his rather mental M3! they are very helful and knowledgableDoes anyone know of a good independent M3 (E46) specialist in the Aberdeen area

You rang?
JD motors of Insch are your boys. Dave Sedgewick (the one half of JD) is ex BMW, really knows his onions and is a bloody nice bloke to boot - he's currently turning my M3 into a bit of a track weapon as I write this.
I have both my ///M's serviced and fettled by him and only have good things to say about both John and Dave. They are both ex racers and take real pride in fettling interesting machinery. They co-own the business so you don't need to worry about any part-time monkeys doing a half-arsed job.
The added bonus (apart from the fact you know you're getting a good service) is that the labour rate is very competitive and there is a train station on the door step so you needn't worry about getting back to ABZ.
JD are the only people I would trust with my cars and it seems I'm not alone. They get customers from as far afield as the borders and Inverness, which should tell you all you need to know.
I have used AW Autotech a couple of times and had no real complaints. However, whilst I wont go into specifics, I think it's fair to say that they aren't as specialised as they used to be. Kevin is a competant chap, but I'm not sure he's too knowledgable about newer ///M's (I think that's a fair sentiment he would agree with).
John or Dave can be contacted on 01464 821151. Give them a shout and congrats on your purchase. Also, if I can be of any more assistance, feel free to drop me a line
is it? Glad it is!
Told them there was no rush and just to work on it as and when. The clutch was knackered nae sure if it was diaphragm or plate: John's just changing the whole thing: last thing I want on the startline of a hillclimb is a clutch calling 'enough!'
Not much left to do to it now: tyres and that's about it.

Well, when I dropped the M3 off at the weekend it was up on the ramp. Looks cool though. Where did you get the cage done?Told them there was no rush and just to work on it as and when. My worry is it looks like a boy-racer mobile! We fitted the cage ourselves, it's an OMP FIA group N cage. Should be solid enough with all those boxes and welded points! Hope I never need it but the Saxo is so French that I didn't fancy introducing it to a barrier without some kind of protection round me. Hope you didn't see the state of the dash round the cage: an angry session with the grinder caused that mess! Will get some expansion foam or some such to make it look neater.
It handles really well on those new springs and dampers, even on the supermarket-special tyres so what it'll be like on the Yokos I'm excited to know!
