For those of you that may be out for a Blat on Deeside at the weekend.

On Sunday 9th March the Deeside Activity Park will be hosting a tasting event featuring Ken Howie's excellent Aberdeen Angus Beef, Rob James' delicious Macbeth Real Ale and Kale grown by Alex Sanger from Montrose.

The event starts at noon and you will have a chance to taste the produce and talk to the producers.

For more information on this event please contact the Deeside Activity Park on 013398 883536, or take a look at their Website www.deesideactivitypark.com

Me and Hemibum are planning to have a look in by (also want to check out the Kart Track... must be better than the kiljoys at Kartstart.

BTW, I have nowt to do with the the above but have eaten there (Breakfast is brilliant) and the meat they sell in the Farm shop mostly comes from their own Aberdeen Angus stock and is top notch also

Just over the hill from us. Sounds like fun, any idea of what time it starts? Can't see any mention of it on their website

may we assume that you couldnt stay off the barriers and on the circuit, or could not see the lights to obey them, or was it that you thought you may at the stock car racing ?

Well, I've only been once on a corporate type thingie. Did feel that the overall supervision on track was rather on the anal side, waving flags at the obvious nutters, but failing to attend to the issues of "dirty" driving. Also there was no transponder function, thus creating some confusion among the teams.

Would like to think that perhaps by now they may have got the formula right.

Forget Deeside Activity for karting unless it's for the kids. Had a look out on Sunday, nice track, but the Karts are more like Dodgem items with all round protection bars, nor are there any tyre marks anywhere on the circuit.frown

No, quite the opposite really, we came 2nd in the Team Endurance thumbup. I was at the same corporate event as Hemibum and just found the headless chicken attitude of a couple of the staff detracted from what otherwise seemed a good operation.

As Hemibum stated, they may have sorted things out but I have not been tempted to return and have not spoken to anyone else who has been there and found it any different.

I notice from your profile you run the Kartstart franchise in Fife. I am sure from your reply that your operation would be run in a far more professional manner than the one in Aberdeen.wavey

I have also been to the new kartstart at BOD. to be honest I didn't find the marshalling too bad although I did get a word in my ear for being too aggressive. Nothing new there.

However one thing that did really annoy me was the difference in pace from one kart to another. They were all totally inconsistent. One car will be relaitvely quick where as the next will be a slug and you find yourself getting over taken on the straight by a guy that weighs three times as much and you've got your foot to the floor. Very annoying.

I was racing with a bunch of guys from work where it was a mini gp I think. You basically never had the same kart twice.

It would mean that if you were lucky then you'd have a stream of quick karts, making it a very unfair race. At the time I mentioned it to the marshalls and was accused of sour grapes and that were all the same. Rubbish. I'm not a sore looser (in fact i finished second) I just think it would've been a fairer race for everyone if all the karts were setup the same.

Then again maybe i'm taking this karting malarky a bit too serious smile

i own and run them both,i am surprised to hear of differences between karts as the computer timing monitors kart performance over a day/week/month.
however events for groups are difficult to run as the driving abilitie between drivers can be great, we always try to be profesional and unbiased at all times. the red mist can change the most docile people
