Welder Required
Discussion
Hi, We're changing out the suspension on our Locust for tubular wishbones & coilovers, adding a roll bar etc. Now, while my welding talents can cope with non stressed items I would be far happier to have someone do the serious stuff.
I would tack weld everything as the positioning and locating mountings are the time consuming bit.
So, anyone know of someone who would come and spend possibly a couple of evenings or a weekend stint?
Obviously, we would be happy to pay for this.
Sorry, location is Portlethen.

Hi Barry,
Whats the spec on the locust? Any pics of your build?
I don't know of a welder personally but do join us over on Jock Sevens,
http://scottishsevens.proboards28.com/index.cgi
Someone is bound to know somebody who could assist.
Good luck with the build
Charlie

Hi Charlie, long time no see. My brother and I bought this thing a couple of months ago. It's an 89 build, with, wait for it, A Lotus 1558cc Twin Cam Engine. 2000E box, 5 link rear end. The engine is great. The suspension is worse than crap. Which is why we're changing to adjustable coilovers and tubular wishbones.
At the end of the day the engine is worth more than what we bought the car for! So the wee thing deserves a bit of money spent on the other bits. New calipers, brake master and slave cylinders , new quick rack.
I'm hopeless at posting pics.on here. I can send you a couple via E.mail if you like.
Anyway, wasn't sure if Locusts would be very welcome on the 7 site.

Aye all types of daft we sportscars are welcomed, none of the snobbery found on some sites and a very friendly bunch. There's also a locust builders site which I'll guess you'll have found already.I'll PM you my email, happy to post some pics if required.

Pokey? Dunno. Been too terrified to make use of the rather narrow power band when the thingie's on cam. We'll see if it's a bit more forgiving on the new set up. It ain't no BMW 840 that's for sure!
Spunky. Sorry for not thanking you at the start of this reply for sorting out this old farts pics
