Perth to Glenshee in the Porsche?
Discussion
I am thinking of going snowboarding this weekend as i have saw the pictures on the scottish news of the great conditions on the slopes of Glenshee and the weather forcast is of sunny spells on Saturday.
Basically, motorway is clear from Glasgow to Perth BUT what is the drive/roads like from Perth to Glenshee? Are they gritted and safe enough to take a 911? I can take my wifes Audi but it helps pass the 180mile roundtrip if taking the 911.

wait till the summer and go up that road and carry on to ballater, its a cracker!
I agree, I go there for New Year (Dalmunzie House Hotel - Superb) and the weather can change very quickly and some parts of the road would only need a light sprikling of snow to make them 'difficult'. I'm going back to Dalmunzie this summer and I'm hoping to persuade MrsG that we can take the vetteG

I wouldnt if I was you, the roads may be clear enough for the porker but the weather can close in fast and make it a bit dodgy for the trek home, also the glenshee car park is like the surface of the moon!
Following on from the above I was on hols around new year in Aberfeldy and stepped into Indian takeaway (mmmmmm tasty) as the snow started to get a bit heavier. There was 2" of snow on road when i went in and 15mins later got stuck with my Mazda 3 with good tyres on in the main street. Eventually dug it oot but had to abandon it 1 mile from hol home and walk. TAKE THE AUDI!!!!!!!!!!Col 666 said:

Is there snow there in the Summer? LOL. The whole idea is so that i can go snow boarding this weekend(indoor slope at Xscape in Glasgow is getting boreing). Thanks for the advice guys, i will take the wifes Audi just incase. Even though the 911 is 4WD, its a bit of a joke how bad it handles in torrential rain never mind a sprinkling of snow. Theres no snow in the summer but its one of the best driving roads in scotland when the tourists arent about.
Its also well used by major car manufacturers testing new models at certain times of the week,I've made a few quid out of taking pics of them and sending them to car mags
Had a wee race with EVO mags renault clio 172 many moons ago in my old scoob!

Posted before, and from a few years ago when there was proper snow on the roads...but no abs or traction, and much snow on the way up. Before the cerb I had a 911 Carrera 3.2 (so pre abs/traction) and it was a regular visitor to Glenshee/Gorm/Nevis....
