....That thing on the M8 I've passed it many times and I've no idea what it is for?

What I'm on about is that massive pole with a large horn on the top on a goose neck, what does it do or what is it for?

Could anyone enlighten me?

It's 'art' rolleyes. It's also meant to 'speak' to the cars...when it was built there was some recorded voice or something in it; not that you'd ever hear it from a car. There was a plan to make the M8 an 'art corridor', indeed that still may be the plan. So amoungst the arty wonders are the arch thingy at Livingston, the pyramids at the old Motorola factory, the tellytubby horn, the heids at eurocentral and the horse on the way in to Glasgow. Only the heids and the horse seem to have any artistic merit as far as I can make out...but there you are.

Sorry to hijack the topic but, hello Willie, we haven't heard from you in a while.

What's the news with the purple monster?

Cheers,

'Finished', inasmuch as it's now SVA'd and road registered smile and on a '57 plate too. Now at the 'debugging' stage. So even though I got it tested and registered as new, there were still loads of wee things to do - it was overheating, but I've re-plumbed the cooling and I think I've maybe cracked it (for road use at least, still don't know how it will hold up on track(); and I think I've got to the bottom of it pi$$ing oil out the breathers, and the 101 other bits and pieces.

In fact I only finally got to the bottom of the cooling issue today (I think) - and went for a wee thrash round Fife and scared the good citizens sh!tless....and me too for that matter. Jeez, this thing really is a monster. On the road tyres it breaking traction in the first 3 gears. Then I worked out I wasn't even pressing the loud pedal hard enough to open the second 2 barrels on the [4 barrel] carb. Weather permitting, I'll be up for the next SIDC day, but only if it's dry. Not so much I'm a woose (OK, I admit it, I am a woose with this thing in the wet), but I still haven't got the roof and side screens made up, and with cloth seats, carpets (yes, carpets!), and a bit of alcontara trim I don't want to turn the inside into a fish pond.

There is a thread on the TVR forum where I posted the pix just after I had it SVAd and registered. I've made a few wee changes since then, but I think I've got the 'roadgoing' glitches sorted out now (touch wood); just have to get the 'trackday' glitches sorted next...of which I expect a few.

I've had Porsches (incluidung a pre-abs/traction control 911), cerbera, westfield, and quite a few 1000cc plus bikes, but this is the ONLY thing that genuinely scares the bejesus out of me. Which is nice.

Given the speed at which the cars in front scattered today, I wasn't sure if it was the 'racecar-on-the-road' looks that was doing it, or seeing the look of terror on the old balding bloke's face trying to keep in right side up and pointing the right way smile

Edited to add that I now realise you say you will be if it's dry.
