Marque Road Sports Cars includes full production models from classic marque clubs including MG, Austin Healey,
Triumph, Jaguar, TVR, Morgan, Ginetta, Lotus, Porsche, Renault Alpine, Mazda (RX7 variants only), Vauxhall (VX220
variants only) and Ferrari. Other marques may be included by the championship committee, following a formal request
from the established marque owners club.
7.8.2 Marque Road Sports Cars (Class A8)
In addition to complying with E12 and L10 of the current MSA Yearbook, Marque Road Sports Cars must also comply
with L11 (Production Cars) with the following exceptions:
• Tyres must comply with regulation 7.7.6 above; and
• The engine must be externally recognisable as standard equipment for the model of car entered.

My guess Neil is that the championship committee would look kindly on a request to include an Ultima in A8, I would certainly like to se your car at the events.
If however they didn't I am sure it would qualify for the big sports libre class, or possibly road sport A6.
There will certainly be a class for you and I am sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon to advise you.

(a) Road Modified Kit Cars over 1700cc
(b) Modified Production (Specialist Cars) over 1700cc
(c) Sports Libre over 2000cc
Your first port of call should be Ultima to get the Production Figures for your model. Then talk to the Championship Committee giving them the Production figures.

Eligibility for A8 is restricted to a defined set of marque clubs, with further marques being added at the discretion of the committee. So, to make any progress with this, the 'Ultima Owners Club' (if one exists) need to write to me asking to be admitted and defining which Ultima models/specifications represent a 'full production model'.
In general. kit-based cars are are encouraged to enter either Road Sports, Modified Sports (if they meet the MSA eligibility criteria) or Sports Libre.
I hope this helps - it does give you options, but A8 may not be one of them.

Thanks for all the replies regarding eligibility. I think the “brand”( Ultima) would stand as a marque in its own right.
I will as the factory of production figures on Monday (but I’m not going to hold my breath).
I will look at the other suggestions listed. Do the “Modified” classes run on slicks?
My car is road legal and could be driven to the events.

No stupidity - the rules associated with all forms of motorsport are a confusing potential minefield until you get used to them!! I will as the factory of production figures on Monday (but I’m not going to hold my breath).

Modifieds can run on slicks and most do - if you're road legal I'd have thought Road going sports cars is your best bet - it does mean you have to be insured taxed and MOTed, and I don't kow how 'comfortable' it is to drive an Ultima to events... will you be shaken to bits by the time you get there?!
