Hello Scottish forum! smile

Looking for a little local advice as I'm coming up with a couple of mates for a good bit of West Highlands hooning. Can you point me in the right direction of a car friendly B&B just north of Glasgow

Just a tiny tiny amount over the intended budget!

Was thinking more B&B prices, £50 for a twin, that kind of thing...

cheers, I'll have a look. What's Dumbarton like? Ideally I'd be looking for somewhere on the road to Loch Lomond

Dumbarton is ok but i can understand that you may be slightly paranoid about parking a fleet of sportscars due to the odd jelous tosser that may think its funny to vandalise it in some way. Great roads around Loch Lomand to be honest, great scenery and not too many fixed speed cameras although there is the occasionally mobile traffic cop.

Beardmore Hotel in Clydebank would be on your way but is a bit pricey, more £100 a night.

But the Duckbay hotel actaully on the banks of Loch Lomand is more a B&B is reasonably priced -

It's not far from Glasgow to Loch Lomond so rather than staying in the Glasgow, Helensburgh, Dumbarton area just
head out to Loch Lomond then you're ready to start when
you get up.

The seats and chairs are basically a pile of ancient broken seats and chairs in the corner, none of them match! Its a proper old drovers inn where the drovers would stay on their way to glasgow to sell their cattle. Its also situated on the a82 which gets you some lovely views of loch lomond as you drive up north. The drovers inn might even still have a few walkers doing the west highland way popping in for some beer, although they will probably be a bit frozen at this time of year biggrin

You could try somewhere in Bearsden or Milngavie. Some good B&Bs, also a couple of the Travel Lodge type places. They also lead onto a great road to Loch Lomond smile

I'd definitely go for the Drovers.

It's a great place with an excellent atmosphere. The car park's also nice and big. It's right on route (literally ON the road).

It's also at the end of the dodgy narrow part of the Loch Lomond stretch of road so you can look forward to fast-flowing open roads from the off up to Ft William.

When are you coming up ? My friends have a nice B+B in Killin, with plenty parking . Driving across the bridge over the falls is an experience!
Here's a taste of the car park and view smile

Looks great! We're coming up next weekend, but I don't think Killin is on the route, looks a bit too far east, thanks for the offer though!

Another vote for the Drovers Inn.

Ask for a chalet across the road they are only a few years old and very comfortable.

Have a ball but watch for cops on the Glencoe area. It is policed alot more than you would think. (unmarked super blackbird camera bike).
The roads you are heading for a used as a race track most weekends by bikers and the cops are really cracking down on it.

Got a room at the Drovers, which is a result. I've got a map from a mate from HPC where the roads are marked with possible speed traps. Are the roads likely to be busy this weekend or is it the off season?

No real problems with fixed cameras NW of Loch Lomond, as
Munro pointed out there may though be unmarked bikes on the prowl.

It's also the Octoberfest beer festival in the Clachaig
in Glencoe...

EMmmm...Drovers and then Clachaig.....when were you thinking
about going home!!!...I'd plan for early December!

Have fun..

Dougie

ETA...no..shouldn't be too busy.
