Actuaries in Glasgow
Discussion
Just about to start applying for uni courses hoping to do something along the lines of a "Maths and Stats" course probs at Glasgow or Edinburgh, all with a view to becoming an Actuary Just wondering if there are any Actuaries out there that can give advice or share experiences.
Also on a side note, will also be trying to get some work experience soon, so if there are any in Glasgow, would there be any oppertunities?
Slim chance I know...
Thanks in advance

This was a road I seriously thought about when I was a loon (being good at maths). My motive was purely money.
In the interim, I discovered alcohol and a couple of other vices. The rest, as they say, is history.
It seemed to me, and still does so, that actuary is one of those professions that you have to screw the heid for twenty or so years and then reap the benefits.
What I mean is, give up any hope of a social life and then, at the age of forty or so, you're made.
Maybe I got hold of the wrong end of the stick - I'm absolutely happy to be corrected.
I ended up in a game where I could do lots of other stuff and still end up in a decent situation.
Mrs S. may wish to challenge me here.
Any way you end up - best of luck.
Cheers,
Eric

actuaries dont seem to work that hard! The guys at the very top do though.
Sounds like you haven't paid a great deal of attention during the whole of your 'career' then I'll pass on the message about Dandruff, beard and Misfit, I'm sure she would be interested in discussing it with you.
