Right folks.

An opportunity to aquire an old Merc S-class has arisen and I quite fancy it.

She's a W140 S280 with 75k and is currently owned by my O/H's father.

Car is currently based in Glasgow, so does anyone know of anywhere I could get it inspected?

As an aside, apart from being completely insane to buy one as a 'run-about', is there any other reason anyone can think why I shouldn't have an old battlecruiser in my life? biggrin

Cheers bud, I'll most definately give them a shout.

Operation Battlecruiser is getting dangerously close to fruition. Even the O/H is keen, which is quite frankly astonishing. What's more, she even likes driving it!

Oh, and I only decided I wanted one last night biggrin

Think it's time to have a two car stable. The poor bimmer is getting lonely (at least that's what I put the current electrical fault down to...)

shout Bring on ze Panzerwagon.

Schnell!

You might want to ask for inputs on:
http://mbclub.co.uk/forums

although it tends to be a bit quiet at weekends.

I suppose the general danger with this sort of car is that if anything at all significant goes wrong then it would instantly be beyond (sensible) economical repair.

If you dont end up going for it, could you ping me the details? I have been scouring Autotrader like a mofo looking at oldschool benzes for a winter hack!

I've used Hart motors in the past, they're good but not cheap (although no where near main dealer). I've heard nothing but good reports about the guys mentioned above in Busby so will be trying them next.

I can agree with above for Harts, good but not as cheap as I'd thought.

Any update Schnell??

Will you be engaging in arms trading & corruption to fund winter driving? wink

I've agreed a deal on the 330 so will be on the lookout for a winter barge myself shortly.
Been surfing the bargain barge threads for inspiration, strangely drawn to something in Arfur Daly spec.

Keep us posted on the Panzer

Harts are good. Also do BMW. Had them look after my M3 for a while.
