Im off to the 'ring' next week and have been thinking about getting a camera for mounting in my car when im at trackdays etc,

When downhill biking in france earlier this year i noticed a few folk with the 'pencil cam' things stuck ontop of their helmets and thinking this could be discreet and easy to mount in the car.

Anyone got advise on where to look for this type of equipment in Aberdeen?

cheers
Graham

just back from Spain riding myself, you'll be looking for a helmet cam then?
youtube-ing our footage this weekend smile

We have two, one used an archos with their own helmet camera which is pretty rock solid. the other from a sony DV camera The solid state cameras arent that great the quality is pretty iffy, however you could mount one right in about your grill if you wanted. But if you want to go the whole hog best to invest in a DV camera and a seperate bullet camera. Sony have the lank connection which lets to switch on and off the camera with an intermediate cable... well handy for the DH's and useful for the car as well.

no idea if anyone sells in aberdeen, try the usual bike shops or jessops but for internet look here

Graham,

I have a bullet cam set-up which you're welcome to borrow.

It needs something to record to. I use a DV vam with AV in. You can borrow this as well if you want.

Unfortunately, I'll be needing it all on Saturday for some greyhound action shots but you can have it from Saturday evening onwards if you want.

Just let me know (email through profile).

Cheers,

Eric smile

Have you spoken to Jes Bunce (www.sigmagroup.org)

Forgive me if you already know who he is, if not he's got two Tamoras - one of which he races - and is from Kelty.
I think his company specialises in these cameras.

I use an Achros MP4 thingy with a dogcam system from here http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/?kw=bullet%20cams&amp...

If you want to see the camera quality look up user Avril 1972 for a knockhill event on You Tube(at work so can't get you a link).

You could have easily borrowed mine but I am back offshore now.

yeh he can be quite excitable, Queens cross seems to be a common route now, gets me to work quicker, i drop my sister at albyn, my bank and solicitor are also there and a friend has a flat near there, i prefer the roundabout when its wet though biggrin

Eric is kindly lending me a shot of his equipment but i will have a looksy at some websites and get myself sorted with something soon or at worst before spring when all the trackdays etc kick off again

As far as I was lead to believe such behaviour has been banned at The Ring... according to Ben Lovejoy's site anyways. I'm off there next week and usually have a camera mounted on the dash, although I may need to rethink that idea. A pencil camera would certainly be an option, especially when mated with the front bumper with a little from a 20mm hole saw...

yes i believe this is true, however as you say there are places a discreet pencil camera could be placed, out of sight
