Discussion
Evening all,
Took a trip up to the big old KH this morning, in my brother's newly-acquired Fiat Punto with him displaying his newly-acquired driving skills. My blood pressure's just about back to normal . . .
Anyway, the SIDC, as ever, ran a superbly organised open-pit session, with (from a spectators point of view) a very high standard of driving. SIDC days, contrary to first impression, generally feature much more than just Scoobies, and today was no exception, with numerous Sevens, Minis, EVOs and Elises pounding the tarmac.
Any drama? Well, early on, a Mini Challenge car skittered into the tyre wall at the bottom of Duffus - thankfully the driver was unhurt and the car had very minor damage. It began raining towards the end of the session, which caused the obligatory Hairpin spin.
Below is a small selection of photographs, and again most cars have been snapped so ask if you'd like to see your P&J. Prints available too, again, just drop me a line. Comments? Critique? Anything? Post away!
Cheers,
Iain

And also the Subaru that hit the tyres fairly softly at the hairpin during the warmup session..... first I have seen someone manage that. I was in the s1 exige if you have any snaps of it?
Aye it was a good day and the rain held off long enough to enjoy loads of laps - although i got blue flagged about 5 times ! One day ill get the hang of this track lark ....
As i was the only Tiv there, do you have any pics iain_cam ?
BTW that bike engined Mini was the nutts. The Nova was rather impressive too !

I'll have a look for your Tiv too. The white Mini was quite amazing actually - there was me thinking it was a stripped out standard (ie. front engined) Mini, got quite a shock wandering through the paddock when my brother said 'Oh look, the engine's in the middle.' Did quite a double-take!As i was the only Tiv there, do you have any pics iain_cam ?

What was the Nova running?
Cheers,
I’ve yet to upload my (rather amateur!) photos from Saturday’s session, but I’ll do my best to get them uploaded tonight and post them up. Cheers for the laps again Bob, certainly was slippy at times but great fun.
Did anyone else see the Atom have a bit of a spin at the hairpin towards the end? I’m guessing new pants might’ve been required after that…

Great pics Iain and Stewart
I've uploaded some of the photos I took yesterday during the track event here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/collections/...
Sadly a lot of my photos came out dark and/or blurry, due to me experimenting with different shutter speeds for panning and trying to get to grips with a longer, heavier lens. I've not had time to sort out the good from the bad, so even the truly awful ones are uploaded at the moment, along with several duplicates due to a computer crash at the first upload attempt. I'll sort these out later when I have time.
Ariel Atom spin sequence - it's a times like this you wish you had a shorter lens on!
The most amazing sounding car on track (Hayabusa powered RWD mini!!) It was stunningly fast as well:
Nice EVO:
Nice Scooby:
Tut driving with no hands!
Race Prepared Elise:
Only need one hand at the hairpin
Mark's immaculately prepared red mini:
Harnesses can be tricky things to work in the cold!
Taxi ? (the two Bruce Taxis cars chasing each other through Seat Curves)
