Alford this weekend (Sunday 5th August)
Discussion
The SIDC have Grampian Transport Museum booked up for our national event this coming Sunday. Free entry, though we are collecting for charity on the gate (please be generous ).
The sprint track will be in use from about 10:30 onwards as well - you can get as many times runs (handheld stopwatch only I'm afraid) around the track as you can fit in for a mere £10. Numbers will be limited to 35 cars, to ensure there are long queues to get on, and it's first come first served.
As well as static displays of cars by a number of car clubs, we'll also have Polished Bliss there, demonstrating various car cleaning producst and techniques, with lots of great products to purchase, free advice etc., and Wheels Around will be there with some special deals on tyres (including competition Yokohamas etc), wheels etc including free expert fitting.
There will also be a show and shine competition for the Imprezas, with some nice trophies on offer
It's been a cracking day out for the past few years, and if the weather is nice it's an ideal venue. Everyone/all makes/models of cars are welcome to attend.
BBQ Catering is being done courtesy of Inverurie Round Table, offering some top quality burgers, hot dogs, cold drinks etc.
Hope to see lots of you there.

Just to let everyone know that all the fencing was put up today, the PA's ready to be wired up, we've got trophies for the show and shine, and also some fantastic prizes from polished Bliss as well.
Tomorrow we just need to rig up the PA and extra speakers, brush the track clean a little bit, get some marshalls sorted and we're ready to go []
The normal entrance to the track is currently waterlogged and drainage put in, so we don't quite have so much space as usual. Show and shine cars will be in a special area just to the left as you go through the gate, so they don't get affected by the dust on the cars driving past. The cars lining up in lanes for the track action will be at the far end of the arena, and will enter and exit the track on the same piece of road, before looping back and re-joining their queue again.
The weather forecast is looking variable tomorrow. It looks like we may catch the odd little shower, but on the whole it should be warm and cloudy.
Cheers

...hope the chap who dinged his imprezza is ok?
Really was rather wet out there. I was in half a mind to take the bimmer round the old figure of 8 but after that little bump the O/H gave me one of those looks that said dont you dare
Still, a nice little gathering. Top commentating John

Glad you enjoyed it
Pity the weather didn't improve to let Stiglet out in his Radical, though there are some photos of him earlier in the day in the red car
Apologies for the commentating skills, or lack of, I hate doing that sort of thing but since no-one else was volunteering there wasn't much option.
It was a good day out despite the weather's best attempts to put a dampener on things, we raised a lot of money for good causes, and the food courtesy of Tuscan Thunder and the guys from Inverurie Round Table was top notch for a change.
Hopefully next year we'll get better weather, and we'll tempt more RWD cars out

Great day, well organised event and fantastic fun punting my buggy round a track for the first time! Rain was a bummer but made for some exciting driving and spectating. Still got no idea where that 68 sec lap came from...PSM me thinks!
You mentioned you were going to post the lap times somewhere.. do you have a link.
Cheers

Thanks John - A good day despite weather.
Youngest son gave seal of approval to TT’s bacon butties
Somewhat uncharacteristically, discretion proved the better part of valour in that
1. I took the 348 home before I broke it (though wouldn’t mind seeing a snap)and
2. The Radical stayed on the trailer as by the time I returned it was p***ing down with rain.
Congrats to those who had quick times

I've got the lap times on my laptop at home, haven't had time to copy them off yet, but wil do so. Rather than post them up somewhere, if you drop me an email on john@sidc.co.uk I'll reply with them attached in the Excel spreadsheet Great day, well organised event and fantastic fun punting my buggy round a track for the first time! I'll have a look through the various forums and find the photos I saw of you in action. Never got the chance to take any myself this time, but should hopefully be at Fintray on Saturday and will take a few then (reminds me I've got a CD to do for Nina, and also Mr Stevenson from the last event).John
