Will someone close to Lothian Car Club please inform them that the new postage charge for a large envelope is NOT a second class stamp? I went to pick up a letter from the local post office today having received a card telling me there was an excess of £1.16p to pay. Of course, you have to pay to pick it up no matter what the contents, and you've no way of knowing what that is. The entry form for June Doune was enclosed, along with an invitation to join a work party. Sadly, I will have to decline both offers as I am now skint!!

ahh.. I thought I was the only one!

It was an A4 sheet!! Could it not have been folded in half and put into a (presumably cheaper) standard sized envelope thus saving them money and not pi**ing off all those on the mailing list?

Ah yes, my good wife, only wife to be perfectly honest, she too had to stump up for postage on that delivery.

We all make mistakes, it was probably done without thought for the postage.

I thought the same Mr P - but then - if this is the June entry list, and you want the 3 passes ... you don't have any choice!!

So, is it the final instructions or an entry form then ?

It is just an entry form (with a later closing date, 6/6/07, I wonder if they are short on entries due to the £25 increase in cost compared to last year?)

There is an apology on the Lothian web site.

You do not need to accept it from the postman.

Does this mean Mr Speechmaker you're now checking PH more often - or are just getting the hang of the keyboard?!

and BTW, I've not had a Thank You for not responding to your note on being ficker than you look... or something like that!!

Must admit I got a shock at the entry price increase, is there strippers on saturday night or something!
Still the best hillclimb course there is but as its a few years since I was there and whilst I failed to make June (wife working) I may make September.
Has the track been resurfaced recently I seem to remember tree roots showing through around 2001/01

I have not been to Doune for TWO YEARS!!!! but they had my details on file and sent out an entry form co/ my old work address (changed jobs 9 months ago)

I got a call to say that I had mail to pick up at the PO but I had to pay £1.16 for the pleasure of travelling across town to my old work to get the ticket to then go to the PO and pay £1.16 for an entry form I will not be using!!

Received an apology letter from Lothian CC today - luckily they used a 1st class stamp on this one redface
I did not collect the first letter from the PO as they (the PO) muddled up my address with a near neighbours, so I assumed that it was junk mail
- how right I was wink

Thanks to Lothian Car Club for a most gracious and prompt apology through the post today. Not necessary really. Well run events and I agree with CT that everyone makes mistakes - I certainly do often enough!

Will you be repeating the trip to pick up the very sincere apology that will likely have been sent to the same address ?

wink
