Read an article in Auto Express claiming you can get more life out of a set of tyres if you fill them with Nitrogen. Anyone know any place I can get that done in the glasgow area ?

You can get more life out of a set of tyres by driving slowly, accellerating and braking gently, cornering smoothly and not trying to steer the vehicle while it is stationary.

And that doesn't cost you a penny, it saves you money as your fuel bill decreases.

(Must remember to remove tongue from cheek before teatime)

I believe using Nitrogen means less variation of tyre pressure with temperature.

I did notice "DRIVERS" at Charing Cross offering the service, for a small fee I guess.

Dont bother with it, I have a share in a classic Jet and the tech manual says to use notrogen in the tyres. Being a bunch of skinflints however the group has been using air for the last 10 years and its made sod all difference to how long the tyres last....ok I know its not a car but its tyres are subjected to some equally serious abuse...

The reason for inflating aircraft tyres with nitrogen is 2fold. It contains no water vapour unlike air, so preventing corrosion. It contains no oxygen, so does not support combustion. So it is for safety reasons that nitrogen is used to inflate aircraft tyres.
