Now those who know me will know I have a big soft spot for someone whom I have thought for a while has a great deal of potential in our sport of hill climbs and sprints. I have known him probably longer than he cares to acknowledge, and I already have many fond memories of watching his Dad with him and latterly of competing with him. Let's see, the look on his face when I opened the boot of the Z3 at Alford having taken it out for a burl when he saw my handbag in situ, having regurgitated its contents after some cornering antics - he could not believe I would drive with that in the boot ... Telling him he'd lost his virginity at Doune after his first climb there - not I think what middle aged ladies are sposed to tell young men in their teens ...!! I won't mention holding up the bonnet of the midget in the top paddock at Doune while he removed the Meadow from the engine bay ... Ooops - just did!!

But it seems like my admiration was well justified and not just the doting drool of an ageing woman - let me be the first to congratulate - and embarrass - young Stewart Robb on his first FTD in the big MP57 at Kames today. And not just an FTD - but a mere Half second off the track record at 74.02!!

What a season opener!! Am I going to miss any more events?! Am I hell!! I missed my chance to embarrass him by giving him a huge hug and kiss but he won't escape so lightly next time!!

Even better - I checked tonight and Young Stewart was a mere .33 of a second outside the track record, if championship records are accurate...

Sorry I couldn't be there - I am stuck in Baku but coming home on wednesday

Sounds like it was dry at Kames for a time like that to be recorded, how were the rest of the times ?

Jonathan Rarity was on 74.82 with the 'Mini Ghost' - the Jedi loaned by MH while the Ghost is being finished - Jamie Brims was on 75.04 after doing a 74 in morning practice, and Robbie Garden was on 77.07 in the OMS he has borrowed from Jamie while he waits for his new toy from GWR.

John Stevenson bust his bogey with a 86.94 in the roadgoing Scoobie, and Graeme Bremner did likewise in the Exige with a 90.56.

Drew Murray entertained everyone with an 84.97 in the wee Fisher Fury, which was actually airborne at one point when he touched the kerbs on the exit from Paddock Bend...

To answer both of you, the results won't go on the championship website, only the championship points.

As for C4, Roy Munro 81.41, Tom Graham 81.59, Colin Graham 83.75, 'Doc' Rhodes 86.38, Mat Rae 86.40, Alistair Fraser 87.90.

I think the Doc was a little preoccupied with keeping one eye on Nicola Menzies, who is 8 days overdue but was wandering around the paddock quite happy. Paul thought his services might have been required!

Wallace was really lucky - the off-side front stub axle on the firehawk sheared at Paddock on lap one - who knows what might have happened if it had been under braking on lap two...

JP

PS Could it have been a certain familiar red Radical that I spotted in pics of Harewood on another thread? 'Guess the engine must be feeling better then....

Brian (the G4) is still in storage, but Alice (the G21) ran yesterday for the first time in nearly two years. Roger (the G32) may make an appearance at Fintray - his normal driver is still limping...

Boris the Z3 is already back in service - and yes, we are both quite nuts!

'Guess Roger will meet "Roddy the Radical" then....or perhaps that should be "Noddy" (since it currently sounds like his favourite breakfast)hehe

Nice to see a Lotus back in class A8.
Looks like Graeme blitzed the track record with a 90.56. I notice the old record was 95.38 which I think was mine from my debut event there in the old Elise, they must've deleted tut's 'banned' Elise record of 91 something...

...checking back I did 95.23 and Tut 91.21 (April 24th 2005) so something amiss in the record books/results.

Track permit holding club hold the records as I recall - so in this case EACC. No doubt the G4 man will be on the case - give him something to do as he's not got me to look after at the mo!! I'm on my own!! Sniff! With only 4 cats (familiae) for company - double sniff! and whatever food they care to bring in to augment my diet ... yum yum!!

Hi all, no controversy about the record for A8, EACC and Stan have it as Tut's 91.21 on 25 April 2005, must have been a Mis-Cut&Paste.

A8 bogey at Kames for 2007 was 121.21 - I say 'was' because Graeme Bremner lowered it by 0.65 on Sunday.
